Principal Rodney Egan wanted to get children excited for the 100th day because it is the last day that counts toward the school’s Average Daily Membership, which is the state formula for funding schools based on their enrollment, said Nancy Anderson, the principal’s secretary. As part of the festivities, staff members were dressed as though they were 100 years old and Egan sported a three-foot-long white beard. Every classroom had students make their own caps with 100 items attached to them, which included everything from pennies to candy sprinkles, Anderson said.
