TUCSON — As a Border Patrol agent continues to recover from a gunshot wound, the agency’s regional chief says the violence is part of a larger problem.

There has been a 300 percent increase in assaults on agents in the first two months of this fiscal year (October and November) compared to last year — 108 compared to 27 in the Tucson Sector.

Title: BP

Its a sad day when the very people that are out to serve and protect our
borders are in fear for their rights when protecting themselves. Imagine its
you alone in the dark, attacked and you second guess just for one
minute……what are the repricussions? Sad, sad for our agents, sad for
their families, sad for the USA

It appears to me that attacks on Border Patrolmen are increasing. Even the
throwing rocks at them is dangerous. Each and everyone of you reading these
events, should put themselves in their place. It is getting as dangerous for
these Border Patrolmen as it is for troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan or
wherever. During my time in WW2, this would have been considered a dangerous
assault. Doesn’t any of my fellow citizens regard this as a dangerous assault
upon our fellow Americans trying to do their job?

Title: good gravy

I don’t really understand why border patrol officers are being punished for
doing their job which is protecting our borders. If someone was threatening
my life, or the life of someone else, I would definetly use lethal force if
necessary. Let these brave men and women do the same. Why give them guns if
they can’t use them? They aren’t Barney Fife.

Title: How Many?

How many Border Patrols must be injured or killed before they can truly
protect themselves?

Now that it has become politically correct to NOT blame the criminals
(remember Ft. Hood? Remember 2 BP Agents being sent to prison?) they are
learning it pays to blame the people who are paid to protect our borders. If
the criminals, i.e. illegal entrants, file a criminal report against the
agents, they can stay in the country for as long as it takes to try the
agents, etc. Border Patrol is doing an excellent job of protecting our
borders, at least as well as the PC crowd will allow. The illegal entrants
are assaulting the agents in the hope it pays off in the end. And with the
trend we’re beginning to see of prosecuting the agents and others who are
sworn to protect us, I’m sure they’re right.

I would consider it a new phase for the drug cartels to get their, “coyotes &
mules” to get the drugs and ilk across to cause havoc & chaos! Until & unless
the military does support the Border Patrol, these issues of violence will
continue to increase ten fold. I agree that the bleeding hearts like MALDEF &
ACLU are keeping our agents from using deadly force to protect themselves
from being injured or killed in the line of duty. I really once believe that
the ACLU was a better element to help its own citizens, instead it should be
rephrased & call the WCLU or world civil liberties union. I am appauld these
entities have more clout to prosecute our agents and law enforcement from
protecting the border & our families. Furthermore, i will certainly use me
2nd amendment rights in protecting my life and the lives of my family. My
family is second only to my Creator. As a patriot once said, “the only way
you will take away my right to bear arms, will have to kill me & take firearm
only then!

Title: Shoot Back

Allowing the agents to shoot back with lethal results without the threat of
going to prison or being sued by the ACLU would go a long way in stopping
those that throw rocks and shoot at our BP agents…
