Firefighters help deliver a brighter Christmas for some

It will be a special Christmas for Guadalupe VaQez, left, and her family after Scott Redmond, Bryce Jacoby and Brianna Jacoby delivered toys and other items collected by the Sierra Vista Fire Department.

SIERRA VISTA — “I’m here to help the kids who won’t have any toys,” said Anthony Nieuwenhuls, 10.
He had a bag at the ready with a couple of hula hoops hung around his neck Sunday morning. He was just one of many kids, folks, firefighters and their families who turned out to pack or deliver the big, blue Santa sack to the homes of families who need a bit of help at Christmastime.
“I’ve been helping since I was 6,” Nieuwenhuls said proudly.
