SIERRA VISTA — Recent national reports that a handful of cats have contracted swine flu have some pet owners concerned about their animals.

Most of the confirmed cases are with cats living in households where humans were sick with the the flu, also called H1N1 influenza. There have been no confirmed reports of dogs infected with the virus.

In order to keep pets as healthy as possible, owners are urged to follow the same good hygiene practices that the Centers for Disease Control has been recommending.
