FORT HUACHUCA — In one of the most strategic places on the globe, plans are being made to build the world’s longest bridge — nearly 18 miles — to connect Djibouti and Yemen, an Army officer from Djibouti said Tuesday.

The two nations — one near the Horn of Africa, Djibouti, and the other on the Arabian Peninsula, Yemen — are across from each other, in the area through which an estimated 70 percent of the world’s oil is shipped, 1st Lt. Gouled Mahamoud Djama said Tuesday.
