Welfare seekers’ immigration status to face scrutiny

PHOENIX — State welfare officials will now be reporting to federal officials applicants for benefits who are not in this country legally.
A new policy made public Thursday says eligibility workers at the Department of Economic Security must file a report to Immigration and Customs Enforcement when anyone they are dealing with admits he or she is an illegal immigrant.

That is very good that they have done this …but will all offices enforce?
also what happens to the tax dollars that the illegals leave behind? Most of
them do not collect income taxes but there money does get collected. I am not
defending them but you also have to look @ all the scenarios. I am a U.S.
citizen with a latino backgroun, i reported my own sister-in-law because she
lived in mexico, but came once a month to buy groceries with the food stamps
she recieved. that is not write. the point is WHO is going to police the
D.E.S.?

wonder Arizone is broke? We can’t keep track of the money we got. I have a
suggestion for the tax money left behind by the illegals: pay of our debts!
Oh Walt, the list is endless—it could go to the hospitals that have to treat
them for “free”; for the billions bilked out of our social services; to the
schools that educate illegals that they pay no taxes to; to the cost of
“trying” to secure our border (because I don’t believe Janet when she says it
has been accomplished); the cost of cleaning up our border where trash is
dumped everywhere; the cost to reimburse ranchers/residents on the border
whose property and livestock are damaged and killed; restitution to the many
victims of violence perpetrated by the illegals who are criminals; to the
prisons that have to house these illegals—geez, I could still go on :(
So does any one know what is done with this money? Do the politicians keep it
to do what? They should jail them and make them undo the damage they
cause..but…not all illegals are from mexico. i have friends in the border
patrol and they say ther is a rise in oriental and would you believe russian?
please do not become a racist person. do not hold the race accountable but
the individual..
I personally do not care if they are from Mars. If they are illegal
immigrants, they are criminals. Prosecute them and put ‘em to work.
You know, in addition to trying to get ahold of the tax money these illegals
leave behind. Why don’t we incarcerate these people for a year each into a
minimum security facility and allow them to undo the damage they and their
bretheren cause? They can pick up garbage, repair fencing, work on our roads,
heck, they can even staff the quality of life positions in the facilities
under a monitored program like cooking, cleaning, laundry etc. They can also
Farm areas that grow the food they consume and use their carpenter skills to
build more facilities. All for no pay. Once these people realize they can
lose much more than they can gain, you might see a significant drop in
illegal border crossing.
Did I read this correctly? Reporting illegals by government agencies is a NEW
POLICY??? This is exactly the problem with our borders and other crime
issues. Everyone wants new laws to regulate illegal entry into the country.
What about enforcing the ones we have? Why is the reporting of criminal
activity by a government agency a NEW POLICY? That is like telling me that
the Cochise County Sherrifs Department has instituted a new policy on
arresting child molesters. My goodness! Pull your heads out people! Illegals
are CRIMINALS! They broke our laws! Why does it take a new policy to enforce
the law? PC is going to KILL this country!
its a start, if a weak one. I do see workers trying to avoid finding out
status to avoid the paperwork. no one wants to be the person who says sorry,
you’re an illegal you get nothing.
Better late than never! Maybe some of the needs of Americans will be met now
that more will be available for them. We have so much tax payer funds being
diverted and wasted that if we stopped the illegal uses and fraud, our tax
burden could be much lower.
I thought we already did this. Well, better late than never. Now take on the
illegal employers using our employer sanctions law. As for the Chamber of
Commerce, who supports all illegal aliens and their employers, get out of
town!
