3,700-pound pot bust in Sierra Vista ranks ‘pretty far up there’ in magnitude
SIERRA VISTA — More than 3,700 pounds of marijuana was seized and nine people were arrested on Saturday after a traffic stop led local and federal authorities to two homes in Sierra Vista.
The chain of events was sent in motion last week when the Sierra Vista Police Department informed Immigration and Customs Enforcement of “suspicious vehicle activity,” in the area of Ironmaster Street.
“They noticed methods that are commonly associated with smuggling, whether it’s human or drug smuggling,” said Vincent Picard, ICE spokesman.

Legalize, regulate, and tax the marijuana trade. Empty the jails of pot
users, freeing untold dollars spent on prosecution and incarceration. The tax
revenues would make a huge impact on government budgets. People who use pot
are no more harmful than those who use alcohol. The biggest obstacle to
legalization is the mindset of the public that the pot users will become
users of much more dangerous drugs. That is like saying all alcohol users
will become alcoholics. California has nearly legalized pot by allowing
medical use of it, to include growing and harvesting for personal use. (wink,
wink). The pot war is just as dumb as the war in Afghanistan.
A drop in the drug export market. I imagine my figures would be more
accurate. In the all the seizures of drugs found it is only about 1% or
slightly less than what is getting through the law enforcement agencies to
the drop houses in El Paso, Las Cruces, Tucson, Phoenix and other drop off
points along the southern borders. There is not enough strength behind the
drug enforcement entites because of being hampered by the Federal, State and
county budgets are being hit extremely hard with the economic down turn, this
in itself is a travesty of justice. More dollars need to be included in the
budgets for the crime fighters. Seize drop house properties and sell them out
right at auction to help out the law enforcement agencies. Cars are toys are
the only things you hear that are auctioned off at this this juncture!
Senators McCain and Kyl need to make sure this money gets where it is truly
needed. Obviously, Giffords will only do so if Pelosi says so. She is a
clone/puppet of Pelosi.
