George Watkins worked through the weekend on his Eagle Scout project. His project was to place pavers that were donated as a fundraiser for the Historical Soldiers Memorial Cemetery section at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista. He placed more than 4,000 pavers, a job that took two days to complete with the assistance of several Scouts and adult leaders. The accompanying photo by Mark Levy and the ones that follow, submitted by Joe Larson, detail George’s work.

Good works are done by our youth all the time and needs to be seen by the
public. The media focuses on all the evil in this country and in the world
but there are good things being done. Youth these days are vilified and
demonized but articles like this reflects the goodness in our youth and uor
values. Thanks, George, especially for honoring our fallen this way!
Walt, I fully agree with you. America is obsessed with crime, violence,
materialism and all of the other deadly sins. This is why we are becoming a
third world country.
Thanks, Family Man! I agree about our sins but they are ours and they prevail
because most of us don’t do nothing. The old folks know what America was like
and should be like. The only ones that can probably relate to that now are
those who served in our current wars and those who served in the youth corps
and other services. When we had the draft, most got to see other countries
and got to appreciate America in comparison to what was seen and learned.
It’s not too late to sreighten out our mess. The Tea Parties are a good start
in that direction. Boldness to stand up to the truth is another step. Voting
out the trash is our greatest task - let’s clean house!
