Flights of fancy: Airport event helps inspire local students to be pilots

Jack Hardison, who is part of the local robotics team and is home-schooled, is amazed by all the gadgets in the RC-12D reconnaissance aircraft during the Young Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagle exhibition at the Sierra Vista Municipal Airport. Youngsters took flights and learned about aircraft during the event.

SIERRA VISTA — Many students took flight for the first time, and some gained a craving for more during the 14th annual airport fly-in and open house at the Sierra Vista Municipal Airport on Friday.
