I believe that there are other ways that you can try to get your point across
without having to make it public for all the world to see. Yes, the council
was out of order and the situation needs to be addressed, but there is no
need to post the video on Youtube.
I agree with you completely, HCResident. Things should always be handled in a
productive atmosphere. Call to the public at a council meeting is not
productive because the council cannot act on the complaint unless it is on
the agenda. The man who was removed from the meeting has many videos on
Youtube. Maybe it is a hobby of his. I also know of several instances where
people were removed from meetings under the administration of two different
mayors and councils. This is not a new thing in Tombstone.
It is my opinion that public speaking, in a council meeting, is at the
digression of the Mayor and Council. There is not a law that says they have
to have a call to the public. I also believe there is no provision in the law
that says council meetings have to be posted on the town’s website. The
meeting time and agenda need to be made available to the public a certain
time before the meeting…but website is not mentioned. Read the open meeting
law. The man that was removed from the meeting has a long record of making
trouble where ever he is. Even in his own business. Look it up in the
archives.
Shaesca, No matter what the subject is you are against this person who made a
formal complaint and it was discovered by the County Attorney that his rights
and the states law have been violated by City Administration, who cares what
your opinion is you always complain against him, it is because you have a
business that is in competetion with him. and your opinion isn’t worth squat
considering you have no idea about the law, your ignorance has been shown
many times in these forums.
snip—there is no need to post the video on Youtube—end snip Are you an
American, HCResident? Do you remember why this country exists? A little thing
called ‘corruption’ done by another tyrannical government as I recall. They
didn’t have You Tube back then but they had secret (OMG! ILLEGAL!!) printing
presses (OMG! subversives!!) capable of making bulletins, flyers and
political pamphlets that spread all over the colonies with the message of
FREEDOM from oppression. Welcome to internet pamphleteering! The guy who made
this video is physically hauled out of a city Council meeting during a call
to the public by the very police officer who assaulted him on another
occasion, and you don’t think it should be posted on You Tube? That’s the
very thing which caused the County Prosecutor to decide for an investigation!
That’s the power of the internet, the power of a free press (which is NOT
your local newspaper, it’s us folks reporting what we see).
Is this just a ‘coincidence’ that an entire city council AND the mayor AND
the City Attorney don’t know the first thing about Arizona’s Open Meeting
Laws… Hmm. I really doubt it. It’s time we all quit putting up with these
things in our towns, cities, and counties! WHY has this been going on in
Tombstone for such a long time? Don’t you people know YOU HAVE RIGHTS and YOU
HAVE TO MAKE SURE your CITY EMPLOYEES (yes they are YOUR EMPLOYEES) obey
their own laws. WHY did it take this man posting a video on You Tube before
someone took action! (aaak, the County Prosecutor at that!) Call these people
to account! WHAT IS EVERYONE AFRAID OF.
It looks as the the council meeting is a joke, and some of them should be
removed from office. I have been to council meetings many times in other
cities, and never have seen police officers in attendance, to keep residents
from speaking.
It is about time Tombstone’s clock gets cleaned. The ths school board does
the very same type of things to parents at their school board meetings,, I
was told by a Ths hired attourney that I could not ask questions either. And
that I should have paid for a lawyer if I want to ask questions. And they
also tried to do a closed hearing, after I asked for it to be open.
