Does ADOT own the buildings at the intersection? Install lights on the
buildings or as close to State property as you can. Paint a crosswalk. What
are they going to do? Can the State really justify a protest of paint on the
road? As Sheriff Behan said in the movie “Tombstone”, this is a town matter.
As Nike advertised…..Just do it.

The AZ highway dept. doesn’t want to spend a dime on safety until there are
enough fatalities or serious injuries to justify it. Cold hearted
individuals. They need to be sued over this incident by the family of this
treasured couple. The city of Tombstone should sue them also, because the
state ignored their plee for so many years, and now Tombstone looks bad to
tourists, and tourism might be affected. If the highway dept. doesn’t do
something asap, Tombstone needs to go to Phoenix and hold a demonstration.
How in the crap much can it cost to put in a cross walk? Well, I guess that
couple hundred bucks is more important than lives, right?

Instead of blaming the state, maybe Tombstone should take responsibility and
build a bridge for tourist like this. in a tourist trap like tombstone, folks
that a loaded like these two obvisouly were, are boud to be popular. forget
the state and do your job. keep the money alive while they are alive.

Is it not easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission? If ADOT will not
provide the crosswalk and streetlight despite their responisblity, I think
it’s time to risk the fine and have the area of Tombstone put them in anyway.
Let ADOT justify reprecussions of removal.

This is a perfect example of rural Arizona being ignored by state agencies,
except when it comes to collecting taxes from us. I thought we were suppose
to have some kind of representation in state Government, but just like the
rest of the Phoenix crowd, you never hear from them except at election time.
It is ludicrous that all ADOT would have to do to help ensure the safety of
folks in Tombstone who use this area to cross the street, is to put in the
items the Tombstone city council requested. How much is a human life worth, I
can not imagine it would cost very much to make the necessary corrections to
this dangerous area????????

When there are that many fatalities over the past 10 years, I believe
something has to be done. Whether it be a stop light, crosswalk light,
overpass, or something else, it has to be addressed immediately.

Title: Senseless

This is so tragic and yet could have been prevented. With Tombstone being a
busy tourist town, ADOT needs to put in a cross walk light in that particular
intersection. They also need to remove all the parking along the curbs of the
highway because you can not see as a pedestrian or a motorist without pulling
all the way out. The state is so broke that I am sure nothing will get done.
