Huachuca City School closes for the week after scores suffer flulike symptoms
The closure does not affect the Tombstone school district’s other campuses, Walter J. Meyer Elementary School and Tombstone High School. Those two schools will remain open for regularly scheduled school hours.

totally agree with everything said! also, you can get the flu any time of the
year, it’s just higher in the cold months because of the hot/cold changes.
Actually the reason the flu is higher in the colder months is because the
virus actually survives better in the cold than in the heat. The problem with
the swine flu is that it is a strain that actually likes the heat and that is
the only reason why the media is playing on people’s fears.
This is not the seasonal flu; it is too early in the year for it the seasonal
flu. While some my have allergies or a cold, high temp with headache and dry
cough that occurs suddenly is most likely the H1N1 flu. Most of our districts
were caught off guard by the sudden and early outbreak of the H1N1 flu, as we
were expecting it along side the seasonal flu. If you are ill, fluids,
fever-reducers, and stay home. If you aren’t wash your hands, get your rest,
and eat right to reduce your chances. People are scared of this strain
because it is hitting young people usually less affected by the flu and not
affecting older people as the seasonal flus usually do. Who is comfortable
seeing young people die?
we homeschool and 2 of my children came down with mild flu like symptoms.
Treated like any other flu/cold and in a couple days they were back to
normal. Agree that the govt hyped this thing up to get folks scared and thus
they’ll beg the govt to do something, something that will inescapably include
giving govt more power. is there an increase of flu? yup, sure is. but in our
nearly sterile lives it don’t take much to get a bunch of us sick.
The regular flu is NOT out. Hereford Resident is correct, actually the swine
flu appears to be milder than the regular flu; however, swine flu seems to
have a higher transmission rate. Hand washing is not going to stop this—that
much is apparent. I also think that this sudden influx is now on the
downside. The only place sending in test confirmations in this area is the
hospital, so most of the cases are unconfirmed and doctors are recommending
people stay home so they don’t infect so at this point it is impossible to
say how many have the swine flu, but lacking any other flu, the probability
is high. Actually all of this information was previously posted in a very
well researched article by the Herald staff a few days ago.
I have a student in Huachuca City School and I am worried about the children
coming to my door who were out that want to play with my child who hasn’t
been ill to keep her from getting it I would much rather her stay inside and
not go out to play with potentionally infected children above all else I am
seven and a half months pregnant and can’t take that risk of getting it
myself whatever it is….
I think that you should keep her inside. There is nothing wrong with being
cautious. You have every right to take care of yourself and not get sick. I
wouldn’t worry about offending anyone either. My concern with the school
being out is that these sick children will be out in the community getting
everyone else sick because their parents are not responsible enough to keep
them at home. This is the reason this stuff spreads so fast. I’ve seen a few
people I know this week that had the flu and were out and about. That’s just
selfish in my opinion.
I think that is over reacting. There is nothing different about swine flu
than any other flu. The media has over hyped this thing so much it has most
people scared. My daughter has been sick for 3 days and we tried to get an
appointment to have her seen but because of the outbreak of people being sick
they were booked up. They just told us to treat her like you would any other
time she was sick with a cold or flu. If you are going to try and keep your
kids from other kids because you are scared they will get sick then you might
as well start home schooling and keep them in a bubble because that is what
it will take.
Why are we treating the swine flu different from other flu’s? The regular flu
kills just as many or more than the swine flu has but yet we are scared of
this strain for some reason. I think we panic way too much if you ask me. If
you are sick then stay home. If not then go about your normal business. You
have a higher chance of getting killed in an automobile accident than dying
from the swine flu.
How many are confirmed to be swine flu?
