DOUGLAS — Nearly 50 illegal immigrants were taken into custody late Thursday and early Friday about two miles north of the Douglas Port of Entry, according to the Border Patrol.

The apprehensions were part of a busy weekend for agents of the Tucson Sector of the Border Patrol, agency spokesman Alex Gomez said Monday.

The 46 Mexican nationals were spotted about 11 p.m. Thursday by the operator of a mobile scope who directed Douglas Station agents to the group. The 41 males and five women were taken into custody shortly after midnight, Gomez said.

I believe that the illegal immigration problem is way out of control because
there are multiple articles a day talking about deportations, rollovers,
overpacked vehicles, etc. It is time our leaders take this issue into account
by better protecting our borders and also forcing Mexican leaders to address
the issue also.
