Studentless district can’t drop out
BISBEE — The state attorney general’s office responded last week to a request by the Rucker School District in the Chiricahua Mountains and county school Superintendent Trudy Berry to eliminate the district boundaries.
Though the district boundaries can be “diminished,” an outright elimination of the district would not be permitted, according to the opinion given by the state attorney general’s office.
“The Arizona Legislature expressed its intent that existing school districts shall continue in existence,” states the opinion.

This is just another way for the government to tax and spend. If there are no
students, then they should not have to pay for the school that doesn’t exist.
