No man is a (Sky) Island

Mike Quigley of Sky Island Alliance provided the Sierra Vista Rotary Club with a glimpse of the bio-diversity that exists in the “Sky Islands” of Southeastern Arizona, Southwestern New Mexico and Northern Sonora and Chihuahua, Mexico. Quigley explained that mountain ranges like the Huachucas, Dragoons, Whetstones and Chiricahuas are called “Sky Islands” because they rise out alone out of the desert floor rather than being connected to ranges.
