SIERRA VISTA — While state legislators continue to struggle with a budget deficit in the billions, more and more state services are facing the chopping block. On Monday, in the midst of another special session of state lawmakers, the Arizona Highway Patrol Association announced its support of Gov. Jan Brewer’s proposed temporary sales tax increase as a way to keep the Arizona Department of Public Safety operating at an effective level.
