Sierra Vista police beat



The following are highlights from the calls for service or citizen contracts received or initiated by the Sierra Vista Police Department.

June 22
• 7:58 a.m. — A man, 50, was charged with trespassing at Sierra Suites, 391 E. Fry Blvd., after police were called to a disturbance.
• 9:40 a.m. — A vehicle parked in the 700 block of Blue Horizon was the target of an apparent failed vehicle theft. The driver-side door lock and window were damaged overnight.
• 10:34 a.m. — A woman, 18, was arrested on burglary and theft charges by a Street Crimes Unit officer conducting followup investigation of the burglary of a home in the 2200 block of East Foothills Drive.
• 11:53 a.m. — A two-vehicle, non-injury accident was reported in the 100 block of East Fry Boulevard. An 18-year-old woman was cited on one count of failing to yield.
• 12:06 p.m. — A two-vehicle, non-injury accident was reported in the 3200 block of East Fry Boulevard.
• 12:16 p.m. — A two-vehicle, non-injury accident was reported in the 3700 block of East Fry Boulevard.
• 12:49 p.m. — A 45-year-old man was charged with driving with a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop in the 3500 block of East Fry Boulevard. He also had a warrant for failure to appear in court. He was booked at the Cochise County Jail.
• 7:41 p.m. — A purse was reported stolen from a shopping cart at Food City, 85 S. Highway 92. The victim apparently turned her back to the cart for just a moment and the purse was taken.
• 9:53 p.m. — Two bottles of liquor were reported stolen from Safeway, 2190 E. Fry Blvd. The alleged thief, a woman wearing blue jeans and a brown sweater over a white T-shirt, left the area on foot.
• 10 p.m. — A two-vehicle, non-injury accident was reported in the 200 block of West Fry Boulevard. A female driver, 27, was cited with a count of failing to yield to oncoming traffic.
• 11:09 p.m. — A man, 25, was charged with DUI in the 600 block of North Highway 90.
June 23
• 1:40 a.m. — A watch was reported stolen from Walgreens, 1950 E. Fry Blvd. The alleged thief was described as a white man wearing a white cap, blue shirt and blue jeans.
• 3:54 a.m. — A bill-skip theft was reported at Denny’s, 2397 E. Fry Blvd. There were six people involved. No dollar amount was provided. No descriptions of the people were given.
• 11:10 a.m. — A window on a home in Los Arcos Mobile Home Park, 650 E. Busby Drive, was the apparent target of a failed burglary attempt. A window screen was cut and the window was pushed partially open. Entry could not be gained, because the window would not open wide enough.
• 11:23 a.m. — A Viewsonic projector was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 1500 block of Chantilly Drive.
• 1:26 p.m. — A two-vehicle, non-injury accident was reported at the highways 90-92 intersection.
• 1:48 p.m. — An 18-year-old man was charged with shoplifting three digital videos from Wal-Mart, 657 N. Highway 90. He was cited and released.
• 1:59 p.m. — A two-vehicle, injury accident was reported on Fry Boulevard at Lenzner Avenue. A man, 22, was charged with driving with a suspended license.
• 3:18 p.m. — A man, 54, was arrested on a warrant after police were sent to a disturbance in Veterans’ Memorial Park, 3105 E. Fry Blvd.
• 9:58 p.m. — A 22-year-old woman was charged with criminal damage after police were called to a report of a white woman throwing a rock at a DES vehicle parked in front of the office at 820 E. Fry Blvd.
• 11:21 p.m. — An attempted traffic stop at Buffalo Soldier Trail and Coronado Drive led to a pursuit that ended on Cherokee Avenue and Cherokee Way. The driver and front seat passenger fled on foot after stopping the vehicle and disappeared into the night. Six illegal immigrants were turned over to Border Patrol. The vehicle was impounded.
Sunday
• 12:18 a.m. — A woman, 27, was charged with DUI after a traffic stop on Highway 90 at Colonia de Salud.
• 10:25 a.m. — A man, 24, was charged with driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on Fry Boulevard at Fourth Street.
• 10:57 a.m. — Graffiti was reported on trailers parked behind Ace Hardware at 3756 E. Fry Blvd.
• 11:48 a.m. — A woman, 33, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in court after police were called to a disturbance in the 500 block of South Seventh Street. She was booked into the county jail.
• 12:06 p.m. — A woman, 20, was arrested on a trespassing charge after police contact in the 5100 block of Camino Del Norte. The charge stems from a June 16 incident at Garden Canyon Mobile Home park, 405 S. Garden Ave.
• 2:48 p.m. — A 16-year-old girl was referred to juvenile probation and taken to juvenile detention, on charges of theft and possession of marijuana, after police were called to a home in the Mountain View Apartments complex at 77 El Camino Real.
• 2:57 p.m. — A man, 46, was arrested on a Cochise County warrant for failure to appear in court after police contact in the 200 block of Peterson Street.
• 4:21 p.m. — An 18-year-old man, 18, was charged with driving with a suspended license charge after a traffic stop in the 2000 block of East Fry Boulevard. A 20-year-old male passenger in the vehicle was arrested on a warrant and charged with having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. He was booked into the county jail.
• 5:37 p.m. — A two-vehicle, non-injury accident was reported on Meadows Drive at Judd Street. One vehicle failed to yield from a stop sign.
• 6:12 p.m. — A woman, 26, was charged with driving with a suspended license charge after a traffic stop in the 2200 block of El Mercado Loop.
• 11:28 p.m. — Beer was reported stolen from the Circle K at 200 S. Highway 90. The alleged thief was described as a black man.
Monday
• 1:30 a.m. —  A man, 54, was arrested on a theft charge after police contact in the First Street/Fry Boulevard area. The charge stems from the man allegedly stealing a bicycle around 8:10 p.m. on June 24.
• 2:02 a.m. — A woman, 23, was arrested on a Wilcox police warrant for failure to appear in court after police were called to a disturbance at a home in the Mountain View Apartments complex at 77 El Camino Real. She was booked into the county jail.
• 3:35 a.m. — A $29.51 bill skip was reported at Denny’s, 2397 E. Fry Blvd. Two men who were responsible left in a Ford vehicle.
• 6:41 a.m. — The rear window of a vehicle parked in the 3700 block of St. Andrews Drive was broken overnight.
• 8:20 a.m. — A man, 22, was arrested on a Pima County warrant after police were called to the Kmart parking lot, 2011 E. Fry Blvd., to check on reported suspicious activity.
• 10:36 a.m. — Graffiti was reported on a wall in the 1700 block of Sunview Way.
• 12:08 p.m. — The back window of a vehicle parked in the 2800 block of Raven Drive was broken overnight.
• 12:12 p.m. — A two-vehicle, injury accident was reported on Highway 92 at St. Andrews Drive. One vehicle apparently failed to yield on making a left turn, turning into the path of an oncoming vehicle. Both were towed from the scene.
• 1:15 p.m. — Police were called to the parking lot of Bank Of America at 3148 E. Fry Blvd., to a reported robbery. Responding officers learned from a male victim, 44, of Huachuca City who is an employee of the Express Stop that as he exited his vehicle to enter the bank he was sprayed with something like pepper spray by an unknown person who grabbed the bank bag and fled. The victim was making a cash deposit for the Express Stop. Investigation by city detectives led to the arrest of the original complainant on a charge of reporting false information to law enforcement. He is alleged to have stolen the money himself and was booked into the Cochise County Jail.
• 3:18 p.m. — A two-vehicle, non-injury accident was reported on Wilcox Drive at Coronado Drive. A man, 42, was cited for running a red light. One vehicle was towed from the scene.
• 3:24 p.m. — A two-vehicle, non-injury accident was reported on Buffalo Soldier Trail at Garden Avenue.
• 6:21 p.m. — A one-vehicle, non-injury accident was reported on El Mercado Loop at Calle Pequeno. The vehicle drove up on the median damaging some decorative shrubs.
• 6:54 p.m. — A money order was reported stolen from an apartment at San Pedro Apartments, 4600 E. Charleston Road.
• 7:07 p.m. — A woman, 24, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana after police contact in the 2600 block of East Fry Boulevard. She was cited and released.
• 8:09 p.m. — A boy, 16, was referred to juvenile probation, charged with domestic violence after police were called to a disturbance at a home in the 400 block of South Coronado Drive.
Tuesday
• 3:36 a.m. — Police were called to the Sterling Pointe Apartments parking lot, 500 S. Carmichael Ave., to a reported vehicle burglary attempt. Responding officers learned that a man wearing a white shirt and dark pants opened a door on a vehicle and set off the alarm, then closed the door and fled southbound on foot. Nothing was taken from the vehicle. Officers were unable to locate the burglar.
• 7:27 a.m. — A vehicle parked in the Las Palomas Apartments, 499 S. Carmichael Ave., was broken into sometime during the night. The console was damaged, but nothing was apparently taken.
• 8:05 a.m. — Two vehicles parked on Graham Drive were broken into sometime during the night. A wallet was taken from one and a stereo and CDs from the other.
• 9:39 a.m. — A two-vehicle, non-injury accident was reported on Wilcox Drive at Coronado Drive. One vehicle apparently ran the red light. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
• 11:57 a.m. — A woman was charged with shoplifting food items from Safeway, 2190 E. Fry Blvd.
• 1:02 p.m. — A cell phone and CDs were reported stolen out of a vehicle parked at the Mall at Sierra Vista.
• 2:19 p.m. — Two hit-and-run accidents were reported on Fry Boulevard, one in the 800 block and one at El Camino Real. Investigation led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man on charges of driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of an accident.
• 5:55 p.m. — A vehicle parked in the 500 block of Pfister Avenue was broken into sometime during the day.
• 9:43 p.m. — A two-vehicle, injury accident was reported on Buffalo Soldier Trail near Cherokee Avenue. One vehicle involved was a marked Cochise County Sheriff’s patrol vehicle.
• 9:54 p.m. — In Veterans’ Memorial Park, 3105 E. Fry Blvd., a 25-year-old man was arrested on a probation-violation warrant from the U.S. Marshals Service.
• 9:56 p.m. — A SIRIUS satellite radio was reported stolen out of an unlocked vehicle parked in the 900 block of Essex Drive.
Wednesday
• 8:38 a.m. — Police were called to Hummingbird RV Resort, 450 S. Railroad Ave., to a reported trespassing by four individuals. Arrested and charged with trespassing at the scene were two men, 40 and 32, and two women, 22 and 21. The 21-year-old woman also was charged for possession of drug paraphernalia, and had to Cochise County felony warrants. She was booked into the Cochise County Jail. The other three were cited and released.
• 11:26 a.m. — A woman, 22, was arrested and charged with shoplifting at Fry’s Food Store, 4351 E. Highway 90. She was cited and released.
• 12:13 p.m. — A backpack was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the Mountain Steppes Apartments parking lot at 4250 E. Foothills Drive.
• 1:26 p.m. — A two-vehicle, non-injury accident was reported in the 4100 block of East Highway 90.
• 2:13 p.m. — A man, 18, was arrested on a charge of fraudulent use of a credit card after allegedly taking another person’s credit card and using it.
• 2:36 p.m. — A man, 43, was arrested on charges of suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on Fry Boulevard at Coronado Drive. He was cited and released.
• 3:46 p.m. — A man, 25, was arrested on a suspended license charge after a traffic stop on Garden Avenue at Busby Drive.
• 4:26 p.m. — Three bottles of liquor were reported stolen from the Circle K at 97 N. Garden Ave. The suspects were described as a man and woman, possibly juveniles.
• 4:48 p.m. — A man, no age provided, was arrested and charged with having a fictitious license plate on the vehicle he was driving, as well as a possession of drug paraphernalia charge after a traffic stop in the 300 block of West Brown Drive.
• 5:40 p.m. — A bicycle-vehicle injury accident was reported on North Seventh Street at Charles Drive. The male bicyclist, 45, was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Health Center with a possible leg injury. He was treated and released, then arrested on an outstanding local warrant for failure to appear in court. He was booked into the county jail.
• 5:41 p.m. — A man, 20, was arrested and charged with shoplifting at Safeway, 2190 E. Fry Blvd. He was cited and released.
• 8:26 p.m. — A man, 19, was cited and released for a count of underage consumption/possession of alcohol after police were called to the Mountain View Apartments complex at 77 El Camino Real to check suspicious activity.
• 11:18 p.m. — A man, 21, was arrested on two Cochise County felony warrants after police contact in the St. Andrews Drive/Canyon De Flores area. He also was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the county jail.
