Paul and Carol Johnson will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Jan. 15, at the recreation hall in Sierra Vista Mobile Home Village. A light lunch will be served at 1 p.m. followed with music by Partners from 2 to 4 p.m. All friends and former co-workers are welcome. Please RSVP by Jan. 10 to 452-9947. No gifts please.
The Johnsons were married on Oct. 15, 1976, at the First Congregational Church in Vermontville, Mich.
They have five children, Eileen (Jerry) Fhaner, Janette (Dan) Miller, Doug Johnson, and Jim Kirk all from Michigan, and John (Randi) Johnson from Nevada. They have six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Paul and Carol are involved in many of the activities at Sierra Vista Home Village and love to spend time visiting with family and friends.
They enjoy traveling and have been on many wonderful trips in their RVs including Alaska, Canada and much of the United States. They have been on cruises to the Bahamas and Mexico. Carol is involved in Scrapbooking and Notecard making as well as genealogy.
Paul loves to eat out at various restaurants. Carol was an area coordinator for IEF, an international exchange student program for approximately 10 years, placing and supervising students. Paul actively helped her plan and host activities for the students and families. Their family hosted students from Germany and Brazil, as well as many temporary students in their home.
They started visiting southern Arizona as snowbirds in 1997 and eventually decided they would like to live here year round. They still love to travel “north” to visit family and friends when they can.
Paul is retired from General Motors (Fisher Body) in Lansing, Mich., with over 30 years of service. Paul’s “dream job” after retirement was working on a farm in northern Minnesota for about 10 years during the planting and harvesting season. Carol is retired from Eaton County, Charlotte, Mich.
After moving to Arizona, Carol was a Realtor with Long Realty for a short period of time. In early retirement, they worked part time at campgrounds in the area.
Paul and Carol feel they have been truly blessed with a wonderful family and many, many friends. It’s time for reminiscing, hugs and a celebration!
