You see Ron White every day more and more. You can’t fix stupid. Now there’s a sign up at the Main Gate saying “Don’t Block Intersection.” It’s against the law. It’s always been against the law, people. Just like when you try to creep up to make a left-hand turn and you wind up in the intersection. It’s against the law. If an emergency vehicle was to come by he’s got to go around you. What if your loved one needed the ambulance? Wait for the arrow. Stay out of the intersection. Have a good Christmas. You can’t fix stupid.

I love seeing the old world Santas in the park this time of year. I think it’s wonderful the Christmas spirit they generate. I hope the city council will decide to have the artists do some more. I enjoy the Santas in the park.

I had a meal yesterday at a local restaurant. I ordered a steak and baked potato to go. When I got home I opened the potato and there was a worm inside. I called and complained. They said the manager would get back to me. They never returned my call. I never got a free meal. What did I get? No response. I don’t think people should eat there.

I am surprised that Mr. (Neil) Barrett used the term progressive and not liberal, communist, or socialist in his letter to the editor. He also insinuates he is the one in the know and the purveyor of great wisdom and truth. Not. Nonetheless, the Bush legacy is pretty foul. To tout him as the great liberator borders on the ridiculous. Bush is not just the worst president in American history; he is the worst president ever, of anything at any time. Next he will be telling us what a great financial manager Bush has been. I don’t buy it. The majority of Americans don’t buy it. Lying simply will not work like it used to. We can now back-check the truth of just about anything. Throwing the shoes was not very helpful. What we need to be throwing at Bush is the book. The whole book.

The attorney general of the once fair state of California wants to deny all Californians their right to vote in a democracy in order to protect a minority’s right to a nonexistent right of marriage. A few years ago a group of Mullahs in the Middle East declared that America is obsessed with sex and violence. I ridiculed that notion, but I guess I did not know how obsessed some of us have become. Next I suppose we’ll be asked to recognize the marriage of a person and a pet Dalmatian or horse or monkey. What will be next?

I would like to share this little poem with all the free thinkers in the area. From Emily. Listen to your mind, and not your heart; The pumping of blood is not an art. Not by design or purpose, intent, Were the systems of your body meant. By natural cause they came to be, just as you are, and all you see. As by nature we are discerned, From nature can our place be learned. A cousin to all that lives today. We are unique In 1 percent of our DNA.

What do you mean, “buy American?” I couldn’t buy American if I wanted to. All America builds is overpriced junk anyway.

I’d like to comment about the people that during Christmas time and especially during the holiday parade complain that it’s not called the Christmas parade or any other holiday thing is not being called Christmas. I’d just like to ask if all the things done in Sierra Vista are only for Gentiles? There are other religions.

The executives of the failed banks received 1.6 billion of our hard earned tax dollars as a reward for their incompetence. Sadly I think it is time for our government to get real. I sincerely hope we do not make the same mistake and reward the auto industry executives the same way. They too need to manage in a real time manner or get out of the business.

It would seem the writer complaining about this country becoming socialistic under Obama hasn’t read the meaning. Per the dictionary, there are two definitions: 1) Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy; and 2) The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat has not yet been successfully achieved. Seems to me we have been living under a dictatorship the last eight years. We have lost so many of our freedoms under the guise of “protecting” us and now, it’s guilty until proven innocent. I’ll take the socialism I have been living under for the last 50-plus years any day over what the Bush administration has forced upon us with utter disregard of whether it is legal or not.

The state passed a law to get those people that try to hide their car state and plate numbers. Let’s see if that plastic over your plate is worth a $150 ticket!

I see that the Catholics may have helped terrorists into this country by giving them food and water. Then send them on their way. Hope they help pay back the cost of 9/11.

How come so many people like tailgating, passing and speeding in the construction zone at Nicksville?

It’s time to stop whining and crying about Obama winning the election. He won by an overwhelming majority. He’s going to be the president. Let’s get on with life and stop worrying about it. He couldn’t do worse than George W. Bush did. A handicapped monkey could do better than George Bush did.

A letter in today’s newspaper from Dave Anderson is pretty much right on the money as far as I’m concerned except for one thing. Iraq did not attack us on Sept. 11, al-Qaida did. We had no right to attack Iraq. People we should be going after like bin Laden are in Afghanistan. That’s righteous. Iraq had nothing to do with it.

This is in response to the person who has problems with the word Christmas. Saying “Merry Christmas” is as traditional as apple pie. Perceiving this as a threat to the caller’s religion demonstrates his or her ignorance and weak belief in his own religion. People have been saying “Merry Christmas” for centuries and we will continue to do so. It appears this Christmas Grinch is close to having a stroke over this. Being a fanatic over a word incites chaos. I’ll continue to say Merry Christmas every year. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Traffic safety is on my mind. I have a slogan I’d like to see put on more items like bumper stickers and driver training and it says this: “Stop back behind me so you can see where my tires meet the road. Be a good neighbor.” That slogan will encourage more people if they pay attention to stop safely and not speed so much. Thank you very much.

Now that the election is over and Barack Obama is going to be president let’s get beyond that and stop looking for petty little things to pick at about his presidency. How about we all concentrate all these efforts on trying to dig our country out of the hole that George Bush and his Republican fat cats have put us in? If all the energy was put into that we could probably solve this problem.

Obama says he is going to create 3 million new jobs. Why don’t we send the 12 million illegals back where they came from and then we’ll have 12 million new jobs? We won’t have to create any new ones.

Everyone knows there are many crimes that can be committed, including murder, manslaughter, rape, bank robbery, kidnapping, child molesting, by those illegally entering the United States, etc. And we all know that such individuals who commit these crimes become criminals in the eyes of the law by committing these unlawful acts. Now if one were to offer aid and comfort to a murderer or an injured bank robber or a fleeing child molester, they would be arrested, charged and convicted as a criminal. So, why is it that we have so many individuals running loose who are committing criminal acts by giving food, water, shelter, to those illegally entering this country, thus violating federal laws and becoming criminals themselves?

I just replaced a window in my house that was shot out by a pellet gun. The cost of the window replacement was $309. The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office policy is we didn’t see it shot out, so there is nothing we can do. Great. That makes it a non-criminal act or it’s legal to shoot out a residential window. This is the second window that has been shot out in my residence. I now know the true meaning of “blind justice.” We didn’t see it, so be it. I live in the Whetstone area.

The evangelical pro-Bush vote was key in re-electing Bush and pushing the issue of moral values to the center of public debate. Unsurprisingly evangelicals often simply do not practice what they preach. Poll after poll shows that evangelical Christians are as likely to embrace lifestyles every bit as hedonistic, materialistic, self-centered, and sexually immoral as the world in general. Evangelicals claim to be protecting and restoring marriage, yet according to pollster George Barna, 90 percent of all born-again folk who are divorced did so after they accepted Christ. In a Gallup poll survey on how people respond to having a black neighbor, evangelicals were more racist than everybody else. It is a farce for evangelical leaders to ask Washington to legislate the very things that the majority of evangelicals refuse to live. Evangelicals point the finger at everyone else as though they were the righteous ones. Perfect description of hypocrisy.

I find it rather hypocritical that evangelicals hate abortion and homosexual marriage, two things that Jesus never addresses. It is all about political leverage no doubt. They jump to conclusions from a couple of passages out of the Old Testament. You can prove anything you want from the scriptures if you twist them enough. And yet they pretty much avoid divorce, which scripture and Jesus definitely condemns. Really, evangelicals need to clean up the beams in their own eyes before they start finds specks in other folks’ eyes. The divorce rate among evangelicals is slightly worse than the general population. That’s something to brag about. Oh yeah, if you don’t agree with them, they call you a traitor and engage in character assassination. The Sermon on the Mount counts for nothing among these hypocrites. Jesus who? What would Jesus do? Would he hate and revile to gain political leverage?

I just have to say, the customer service at most fast-food joints in this town is a down right joke. And that also goes for some full service restaurants. This may be just one reason that capitalism is starting to fail in this country. Customer service is what it takes to make a profit, I guess not anymore. Or it could be that I’m just in a backward state. I see where Arizona went McCain-Palin. I predict Arizona will be as dumbed down as Mississippi and join the rest of the brainwashed Bible belt within 20 years.

This is for the driver of the white Cadillac Escalade that I observed on Tuesday the 23rd just after dusk. 1. The speed limit on Cherokee Avenue is 35 mph, not 50 mph. 2. The speed limit on Buffalo Soldier Trail is 50 mph, not 60 plus. 3. Regarding that other car in the right hand lane of Buffalo Soldier Trail — you didn’t miss ’em by much when you cut in front of him to make your right turn onto Coronado Drive. Obey the traffic laws. Have a safe and happy holiday season.

For those of us who do not want to be ruled (Yes, I said ruled, not governed) by the big city corrupt elitists, we may in the future have a viable option. In November of this year 14 states held a secession convention in Tennessee. As of this date a report of the convention has not been made public. I know this article will tighten the shorts of the loony left, however it may well be an option that many people in this country who are interested in a government not ruled by the socialists will vote for or support. Secession is not a system that bands various states together but states that may have different views and desires, however the core of the secession movement is each state have the rights that they desire, not some foreign style government. For those of you that are interested in more information on what may be a critical option in the future, google in “secession project.”

Today’s front page says, “Schools find savings by running cafeterias” then it says, “We were just having difficulties with their management,” said the business manager who now oversees the food service. I believe this business manager is the same one who called for all the people in Sierra Vista to pay outrageous taxes last year. Nothing ever happened to her. So what’s wrong with the management with her? I presume they gave here a pay raise so she can screw this up, too.

The wind was blowing 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph on Wednesday morning. We looked for the Herald a couple of times, but it was a bit late. Went out for the third time and there it was, right at the front door! Bless you, Charles. We never did find the Star and the person delivering said it was blown away the minute they threw it. What a difference between two deliveries.

Why do we in Huachuca City have to cope with all the terrible ways we are treated at the Senior Center here? The people who have taken charge have made us think they own the town. Their rules are law. The mayor is aware of all of this. Please help us. We need to be heard.

We sleep soundly in our beds because men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm. Winston Churchill was right and this is the only peace department free people need.

I have a question. The Democrats were harping on Sarah Palin’s inexperience. I was just wondering how they consider Al Franken to be qualified to be a senator?
