" Quite often not much information is released until further facts can be obtained. The police also don't want to release false information. But because of this article I know to be extra careful in that neighborhood because there is a known risk there. "

" SV is notorious for this stuff..... same goes for the "police beat" what is the point of saying someone got arrested for what, if we do not know the name of the person so we can make sure we stay away from them. I thought this was an article because of the circumstances of the attack and what not, but since this tells me nothing, i don't see a point. A lot of people get molested all the time, why should I care about this if you guys don;t provide any info, ever. "

" The "point" of this article, even though details are currently sketchy, is that an incident occurred. If The Herald does not print something about it, no matter how little info has been released by the police, then some people complain in this forum that The Herald should have printed what is known so readers can be more watchful. The Herald can only print info released to them by police. More will certainly follow as the case develops. "

" In that case the police should never give out any information on any crimes, because you just never know, when a true witness may come forward. Or just don't print a "nothing" article at all, as the witnesses know about the crime, and no one else has too, because the non witnesses don't have any information. "

" The point is that there is someone out there with information on this case and they know who they are. This is giving all witnesses the chance to call and give a statement without being given more information than they already have. It weeds the true witnesses out from the people who hear rumors "
