Not only can an individual make resolutions but so can your hometown newspaper.
As the Herald/Review welcomes the new year today, here are some resolutions we shall strive to achieve. Some of these already exist, but it does not hurt to reiterate them.
We resolve to be the community’s hardest-working and No. 1 gatherer and provider of information. Whether that information is an obituary of a local person, prices and pictures of cars for sale, reports from a government meeting or a news item about something interesting or unusual, we will do our best to serve up that information to you as quickly, accurately and thoroughly as we can.
We resolve to improve our online capabilities. We know that many local readers — as well as those soldiers and contractors from Fort Huachuca serving in faraway places — often log on to keep abreast of current events in their hometown community. The number of page views on www.svherald.com continues to grow month after month. We resolve to improve continually in every possible way.

We resolve to deliver your newspaper on time. Journalism by its very nature is a regular, cyclical activity. Sometimes, severe weather or other manmade or natural events can challenge our dedication in you receiving the newspaper in a timely manner. No matter what hurdles fall in our path, we will do our best to get your information to you on time every time.
We resolve to listen to you. We know it is not about us, but it is about you. We know in the the past there may have been times when it seemed that we ignored you, or did not hustle in returning your call, or perhaps just did not seem to “get it.”
We know that to be successful in any relationship — including a newspaper’s relationship with its audience — there must be careful attention paid when it comes to listening. So please call or write to us and let us know what you are thinking. We resolve to hear you and to respond to you in the most effective manner that we can.
