Bisbee
The annual Muheim Heritage House Holiday Party is slated for Sunday, from 2 to 5 p.m. Attendees will the opportunity to tour Bisbee’s premier Victorian home. It was built by pioneer merchant Joe Muheim and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located on Youngblood Hill on the east side of Brewery Gulch in Old Bisbee. Rebecca Orozco will present a program to the Bisbee Corral of Westerners International featuring her experiences traveling in southern Africa. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 in the Senior Center. Orozco is the director of Cochise College’s Center for Lifelong Learning. Refreshments will be served. Sierra Vista
The Confederate Secret Service Camp 1710 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans will hold a business meeting and informal supper at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 6 at the Country House Restaurant, 4373 S. Highway 92. Meals may be ordered from the restaurant’s regular menu. The meeting’s program will be presented by Joe Larson, director of the Southern Arizona Veterans Cemetery, who will discuss the cemetery’s programs, particularly the reinterment of the remains of 19th century soldiers recently discovered in Tucson. On Jan. 10, the Friends of the San Pedro River will launch their 2009 trail ride schedule with a ride from the San Pedro House near Sierra Vista, heading north toward Murray Springs. The trail ride will begin at 11 a.m. and finish around 2 p.m. This ride is for those who own their own horses. Bring a sack lunch to enjoy along the river. Call Nancy at 456-1362.

The Sierra Vista Environmental Operations Park is open for bird walks each Sunday morning. The walks take about two hours and are led by docents from Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory, Huachuca Audubon Society and the Friends of the San Pedro River. Walks depart from the viewing platform at 8 a.m. The park entrance is located on Highway 90 between mileage markers 324 and 325 on the north side of the highway. All tours are free, although donations are invited. Call 432-1388.
