Manuel Anthony ‘Mike’ Castellano

Manuel Anthony ‘Mike’ Castellano, 49, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Bisbee, Ariz., on Monday, Dec. 1, 2008. Mike, as his family called hi, was born in Bisbee on Oct. 12, 1959, to Manuel Flores Castellano and Rosalie Webb.

He attended Bisbee public schools and graduated from Bisbee High School. Mike served in the U.S. Marines as a heavy vehicle operator and helicopter operator.

Mike returned to Bisbee following his tour of duty and worked at Fort Huachuca as a maintenance supervisor until becoming ill.

Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and family gatherings. He was a member of St. Patrick Church. Mike will be missed deeply by his family and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, who raised him Policarpio and Aurelia Castellano; his father, Manuel Castellano; his brother, Paul Castellano; and his uncle, Edward Castellano.

Survivors include his wife, Shana Payne Castellano of Bisbee; his mother, Rosalie Salazar of Tucson; his stepson, Christopher Cobley of Bisbee; four brothers, Glen Lazore (Treasa) of Whetstone, Ariz., Larry Lazore (Sherry) of Mississippi, Jerry Salazar and Robert Salazar, both of Huachuca City, Ariz.; two sisters, Carol Castellano (Latrisha) of Texas and Cleo Klopfleisch (Quint) of Italy; aunt, Marilyn Castellano of Bisbee; sisters-in-law, Christine Reese (Ben) of Utah, Rhonda Evans and Kim Merson (Don-E) all of Tucson; in-laws, Jerry and James Chick of Tucson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Church. Burial of cremains will follow at the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery. All arrangements are being handled by Dugan Funeral Chapel.
