BISBEE — Staff for the SouthEastern Arizona Governments Organization Area Agency on Aging is settling well into their offices at the Bisbee Senior Center, said Director Kathleen Heard.
About 40 seniors and community members came to the open house and ribbon cutting for the new offices Friday afternoon at the Senior Center at 300 Collins Road, located off Naco Highway.
Now the regional resource for seniors is accessible for those in wheelchairs, which was important to the agency, Heard said. The agency had been housed at the second floor of City Hall since 1976 with no elevator, which made opportunities to meet with some of their disabled clients difficult.
The agency now has a 15-year lease with the city for the six offices, including one multi-purpose office and conference room space.

Senior Center Executive Director Clark Hay said he is glad the senior center and agency can add to each other’s resources for seniors.
“I think it’s wonderful. I remember being at City Hall almost a year ago and saying how much I was looking forward to the synergy we’re gonna have with these guys,” Hay said.
The agency has four full-time staff members who will be providing services there, including Heard, Nancy Harwood, data entry clerk and receptionist, Grace Murcio, health insurance counselor and Christina Anderson, their ombudsman and planner.
The agency offers counseling and referral to services for housekeeping, personal care, home delivered meals, congregational meals, transportation and more, Heard said.
