MIDLAND, Texas — The Cochise College men’s basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a resounding 131-60 win over the Wayland Baptist University junior varsity squad Thursday in the first game of their three games at Midland Community College in Texas.
DeAngelo Jones led Cochise with 26 points and seven rebounds and Eric Neely added 18 points to go with 16 rebounds. Mike Mayo scored 16, hitting four three pointers for the second time in three games.
Today, the road gets much tougher as the Apaches take on Odessa Junior College, ranked seventh nationally in the preseason at 5 p.m. at Midland CC. On Saturday the task gets even more challenging as Cochise plays host Midland, ranked No. 3 nationally.
“These guys are putting fort a very good effort,” Cochise College head coach Jerry Carrillo said. “The integrity they’ve had since day one has been very high.”
