Susan D. Hunter, 53, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., departed this life on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at the Sierra Vista Regional health Center.

Susan was born on Sept. 10, 1955, at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga., to the union of Louis L. Black Sr. and Helen Mae (Crayton) Black. Susan was raised in Lawton, Okla., in between several tours with her family in Germany.

She attended the Lawton Public School system and graduated from the McArthur High School in 1973. Susan also attended the Cameron University in Lawton for two years.



Susan served her country as a member of the armed forces of the United States, serving in the U.S. Army for eight years. She received numerous awards and certificates for her dedicated service while serving in the medical field.

Susan was married to her beloved husband Roger on Aug. 14, 1989, in Lawton.

Susan enjoyed the comforts of just relaxing and settling down to read a good book. She was an avid reader. She also enjoyed the outdoors and loved to travel.

Survivors include her loving husband, Roger of Sierra Vista; son, Adrian D. Cotton of Sierra Vista; stepson, Michael Spencer of Detroit, Mich.; a brother, Louis L. Black (Lorrie) of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Margaret L. Johnson of Oakland, Calif.; two aunts; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives.

Susan is preceded in death by her father, Louis L. Black Sr.; mother, Helen Mae (Crayton) Black; and sister, Anne Black.

Visitation will be held today, Nov. 13, 2008, at the Hatfield Funeral Home, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Nov. 14, 2008 beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Interment will immediately follow at the Southern Arizona Veterans Cemetery.
