Ronald Lopez, 65, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at the Southern Arizona Veterans Hospital in Tucson, Ariz.

Ronald was born in Bisbee, Ariz., on Jan. 24, 1943, to Joaquin Lopez and Benigna Sarellanez Lopez. He graduated from Bisbee High School in 1961. Following graduation, he attended the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University. He moved to Sierra Vista, Ariz., from Bisbee 10 years ago.

Ronald served in the U.S. Air Force, where he reached the rank of staff sergeant serving during the Vietnam War. Ronald enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards, music, watching movies and surfing the computer. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and especially by his little dog and companion “Baby.”



His parents, Joaquin and Benigna; his brother, Joaquin Lopez Jr.; his sister, Susanna Lopez; and his sister, Susan Gomez, preceded Ronald in death.

Survivors include his sister, Rosemary Echave, and her husband, Lawrence, of Bisbee; his brother, Edward “Lalo” Lopez, and his wife, Alma, of Sierra Vista; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, his caregivers Alma and Ernest, and his little dog, “Baby.”

Private graveside services will be held later at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Dugan Funeral Chapel is handling all arrangements.

    " I will miss Ron so very much. We met in the chatroom for Arthritis about 10 years ago.He gave me support and tough love when I needed it. He was a great person and supported all of us with his wit and humor. I will miss our phone calls also. Marilyn & Lou "
