I’m fairly new to the area. I’m a parent of a special needs child who is projected to go to Buena High School. Through conversations with some other people I have some concerns…
Editor’s note: Since you are new to the area, the district offices are located at: 3555 E. Fry Blvd. You can call the office at 515-2701 or email Superintendent Bret Agenbroad at Superintendent@svps.k12.az.us
I don’t know what it takes for politicians to realize what seniors on fixed income go through to make ends meet. Months ago Arizona lawmakers were considering reducing license plate fees for seniors. What happened to it? Due to fees highest among most states we are forced to drive clunkers that constantly break down and spend more time in repair shops than on the road. What about high property taxes? In many states seniors don’t pay a dime. I’ve been working since I was 15 and have been paying taxes since. While working I paid the required amount according to my pay. At a fixed income I no longer can keep up with the bills and taxes. I am forced to budget my income and in some cases do away with badly needed items. Seniors have been paying taxes all their lives. They deserve a break to be able to live with dignity.
People tell me and think we are in a democracy and are upset and screaming they don’t want socialism. It would be a disaster. What do we have now with this democracy? What did the White House deliver in the last eight years? Lies, deception, corruption, scandals and lots of twisting of the truth. Our leaders have lied to us about our economy. Politicians from the White House on down and on both sides have committed crimes which were denied by them, were never impeached, prosecuted or convicted and locked up. Our savings and 401k have either been wiped out or reduced by a failing stock market. Our economy is a disaster. New unemployment figures show that 750,000 people just lost their jobs this year. People losing their homes to foreclosures left and right and are thrown out of their homes. If this is what we call democracy, I am ready for the worst form of socialism.
As a retired command sergeant major who spent almost all of his career in the ammunition field (to include nukes) I’d like to “enlighten” your military writers, to include Bill Hess, something I learned from an “old sergeant major” more that 45 years ago. When a unit cases its colors (ceases to exist), the unit is inactivated, not deactivated like many of your articles state. The only thing in the military that is deactivated is ammunition.
A while back someone complained about the Thrift Shop on Fort Huachuca. I wanted to first thank this person as I did not know the Thrift Shop even existed. Now I want to tell this person that they don’t know what they are talking about. I made several visits and found no problems this person used to make a mountain out of a molehill. This person needs to rest her/his mouth and use all the facts. It must be observed that this facility takes in and sells secondhand items. It’s not the emporium. The folks at the Thrift Shop are mostly volunteers who work very hard to provide a great service. On one visit I made, there were a bunch of clothes behind the cash register. So remembering the previous complaint, I asked why. Simple, these gals and a few guys even double up on their duties. The cashier was doubling her already busy time by sorting donated items.

This is a thank you message for the man who was driving a green Ford Ranger with veteran license plates. He said his name was Jeremy Franklin. He was at the lake a couple of days ago and jumped into the lake to save my daughter. I want to say thank you for saving my daughter from drowning that day. Please call me at the number on the business card I gave you so that I can get in touch with you and treat you and your family to whatever you may need. Thank you again. You’re a true angel sent from God.
I had a successful yard sale this past week, perhaps too successful. I sold two cast iron pans with lids plus two extra wooden handles. One of the extra handles belongs to my cast iron skillet. If you see this and feel any sympathy for my senility, please drop off one of the handles? Leave it on the porch or by the mailbox. Thanks.
