To the Editor:
At the risk of repeating myself, I would like to respond to an On Your Mind statement regarding the Sierra Vista override election. My only responsibility is to ensure that the brochure is published and sent out. Our county elections office and the county school superintendents use a publisher in Phoenix and all the override brochures in the state follow the same format. The numbers are inserted by the school districts based on the advice of their attorney.
I also would like to explain that I was a teacher for the Glendale Union High School District and for the Marana school district. I have been a certified teacher in Arizona since 1975. I also taught at Cochise College, and for eight years served as the Cochise College director of adult education.
The best experience for this position is service as the county school superintendent for the last eight years. The second-best experience was as the director of adult education where I wrote grants, created programs, filed reports and managed budgets and a staff of 50 people. This position is administrative and has fiscal oversight of 23 school district budges, and we process more than $100 million in checks each year. This does not include Sierra Vista, which has its own business office and sets its own tax rates.

I do not believe that having teaching experience would benefit anyone who was new to this position. I hope the public understands that I am the only candidate who has the experience necessary to do this job.
