This is the seventh year for the Tombstone Western Music Festival and it is going to be a good one.
This year’s events will take place Oct. 31, Nov. 1 and Nov. 2. The 2007 event was a huge success. The evening concerts at Schieffelin Hall on Friday and Saturday nights were both sellouts, and the daytime stages were well attended.
They have another all-star lineup this year. A newcomer to the festival is Patty Clayton. She was AWA Artist of the Year and AWA Album of the Year for 2007. After listening to her sing it’s easy to understand why.
Kip Calahan is back this year. She is a favorite of Tombstone and the festival and enjoys a huge following wherever she goes. Rena Randall and the Due West Trio are back and are always a hit.

Doc Stovall is returning with his brand of cowboy logic and humor that are nothing short of stellar. Joe Bethancourt, a fixture at this festival, is always entertaining. Justus and the Montanas will be here; Bill Barwick, the Voice of the Western Channel will join the lineup again.
George Dickey and Rodger Maxwell will be performing individually and as the “Saddle Gramps,” in tribute to Paul Hendel whom we lost earlier this year.
This year’s festival is being dedicated to the memory of Paul Hendel, who will always be remembered for his song writing and performing talents. Public Heartland Radio will again present their awards for their top 10 songs of 2008.
There are many more performers, each and every one the cream of the crop of today’s Western Music, who will also be there.
If you love cowboy/western music, you can’t miss this event. Not only do these performers sing the traditional songs you know and love, they write their own original music.
The 2008 Festival begins with a free concert just for the grammar school kids Friday morning. There will be two evening concerts at Schieffelin Hall, one on Friday and one on Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m.
A variety of top performers will perform on a stage on Allen Street from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Satellite Stages will be set up at several businesses in town:
On Saturday enjoy the music at the Silver Nugget, Lamplight Room, Dragoon Saloon, OK Corral nd Six Gun City.
On Sunday the Silver Nugget, Lamplight Room, Dragoon Saloon and OK Corral will be the hosts. Also on Sunday, Cowboy Church will take place on Allen Street with John Ryberg and Benny Young of the Desert Sons presiding.
Between the great talent we are able to draw from and the wonderful location of the “Town Too Tough to Die,” this is sure to be one of the best western music festivals around.
Part of the allure of this event is walking the legendary streets of Tombstone while listening to cowboy songs performd bsome ofthe greatest entertainers around. It really adds to the fun if you enjoy dressing in authentic 1880 dress or western attire. You’ll fit right in!
Tickets for the evening concerts will be $15 for adults, $10 for students, and children under 12 are free. All other events are no charge.
