Joe H. Castillo, loving husband, father, TaTa and brother, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Joe was born in Nogales, Ariz., on Oct. 18, 1934, to Luis and Angelina Castillo. He lived his entire life in Arizona, first in Nogales, settled in Huachuca City, and most recently moved to Maricopa with his daughter.

He retired from civil service in 1989 after spending his entire career at Fort Huachuca, Ariz.


He loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 43 years, Bertha B. Castillo.

He is survived by his children, Esther (Don) Rogers, George (Davina) Castillo, June (Terry) Shull, Joseph (Shannon) Castillo, Michelle (Ed) Benzenhoefer, Joe (Kathy) Castillo and Robert (Marcia) Castillo; his grandchildren, Travis, Marcus, Luna, Brittani, Alexa, Jacob, Taylor, Logan, Morgen, Lucas, Kierlan, Lenox (due in October 2008), Brenna, Taryn, Dante, Cory, Elisa, Christel, Joe Jr., Desiree, Chad, Heather, Jennifer, Heidi and Amanda; and great-grandchildren Philip, Celest, Adele, Anthony, Madison, Mason, Torri, Brady, Rachel, Skyler, Zachary, Caleb, Jordyn, and Cannon (due in March 2009). He also is survived by his sisters, Lupe (Ray) Douglas, Anita Castillo, Louisa LaRue and Carrie (Tom) Marron. He is  preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Castillo, Josie Douglas, and Angie Davis.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at 4 p.m. at Simes Mortuary in Casa Grande, Ariz. A memorial service will follow at the Shull’s home in Maricopa, Ariz.

The Castillo family would like to thank RTA Hospice & Palliative Care in Casa Grande and Hospice Casa de la Paz in Sierra Vista for their excellent care of our father.
