Leta Clarice Hopkins, 86, of Olathe, Kan., passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at Aberdeen Village.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 18, 2008, at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville, Kan.

Leta was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Osawatomie, Kan., the daughter of Thomas and Ethel (Edgel) Bates. She grew up in Miami County, graduated from Paola High School and attended Paola Academy.
On Jan. 1, 1948, she married Robert D. “Doc” Hopkins, D.C., in Ottawa, Kansas. They were married almost 50 years before his passing in 1997.
Leta worked for ATT as a bookkeeper and then later for her husband in his chiropractic business. They lived in several communities in Kansas and also resided in Sierra Vista, Ariz. Leta was a former member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed quilting, sewing and cooking.
Leta is survived by her son and his wife, Thomas and Rebecca Hopkins of Mundelein, Ill.; her daughter and her husband, Leta Yvonne and David Richards of Overland Park; and two grandsons, Robert and Christopher Richards. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
