Emmanuel Valdis Daniel

Feb. 23, 1992 – Sept.10, 2008

Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, Sep 17, 2008 - 05:21:28 am MST

Emmanuel Valdis Daniel, affectionately known as E-MAN by his peers, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 during his sixth period class at Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Ariz. He was 16 years old and a 14-year resident of Fort Huachuca, Ariz., and Sierra Vista.

Emmanuel was born on Feb. 23, 1992, at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii, and raised by Gloria and Lester Daniel.

As an infant, Emmanuel was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot. During his short but full life, Emmanuel survived three open-heart surgeries. The first at Boston Children’s Hospital in January 1993, the next two were conducted at University Medical Center, Tucson, Ariz., in August 2005 and September 2007, respectively. All were successful operations.

Emmanuel attended pre-school, kindergarten, fourth and fifth grades at Myer Elementary School, Fort Huachuca.  He attended first through third grade at Johnston Elementary School, Ft. Huachuca.  He attended sixth through eighth grade at Smith Middle School, Fort Huachuca.  Emmanuel completed his freshman and sophomore years of high school and had just begun his junior year at Buena High School, Sierra Vista, when his life here on Earth suddenly ended. Emmanuel played all sports and was known for his speed on the soccer field, basketball court, baseball diamond, and track. He participated in youth sports both on Fort Huachuca and in Sierra Vista. He also had a passion for cars and loved to play Xbox 360, especially Guitar Hero and any game with vehicles racing. Uno, Connect Four, and Checkers were his favorite games.

His lasting tribute is his love for God, people and life. He was a member of Calvary’s Rock Church and an active participant in their youth ministry called Children of Zion. His favorite gospel singers were Tye Tribbett and Kirk Franklin. He was best known for his infectious smile and impersonations of Madea. Emmanuel always had encouraging words of wisdom that affected all who came in contact with him.

Emmanuel is survived by his mother, Gloria (Palmer) Daniel; his father, Lester Daniel Jr. of Albany, Ga; two brothers, Cornelius, 20, Sierra Vista, and Demetrius, 19, Lackland AFB, Texas; grandmother, Jacqueline Palmer; and great-grandmother Lucy H. Conn, Carlisle, Pa.; aunt, Gail (Palmer) Parker and her husband, Jeffery Parker, Maumelle, Ark.; uncle, Garret Palmer and his wife, Wanda (White) Palmer, Gettysburg, Pa.; two nieces, two nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A time of visitation will be held Thursday Sept. 18, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hatfield Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday Sept. 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Main Post Chapel, Fort Huachuca.  The interment will follow at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Those wishing to join the funeral procession to the Post Chapel need to meet in the parking lot of the Widow’s Support Center outside the Main Gate at 10:30 a.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hatfield Funeral Home.

I'm blessed Corneilius & Demetrius are still in our lives but finding Emmanuel in my fridge, putting his feet everywhere, taking over the laptop, playing video games & joking around.(Sigh) The world seems different now. Not being around him is hard. Know you did a great job! Heaven has a new angel watching us all. We're here for you all whenever you need us to be. We love you, Sis. "
