June Peterson survived breast cancer and lung cancer only to lose her life in a car accident here in Bisbee, Ariz., on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008.

June was born in Chicago, Ill., on March 28, 1927, to Charles and Esther (Strutz) Tetzke.

When she was 4 years old, her mother died in childbirth along with the baby. Her father passed away in 1956.

In banking most of her career, she retired as branch manager of Western Savings in Peoria, Ariz.

After retirement, she and her husband moved to Bisbee and have lived here 30 years.

June was an active member of the Bisbee Cancer Support Group and an avid Cubs fan.

She always wore her Cubs T-shirt on game day, and was optimistic that “maybe next year” they’d win the pennant.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Arnold Peterson; her son, Tom Schelling, and his partner, Isidro Chavez; her daughter, Caryl Larkins, all of Bisbee, Ariz.; stepsons, Larry (Helen) Peterson of El Cajon, Calif.; Donald (Sue Ying) Peterson of Pioneer, Calif., and stepdaughter, Karrin Schenone of Bedford, Texas. Also two grandchildren, Erik (Jaime) Peterson of Vallejo, Calif., and Danielle Padillo of Fort Worth, Texas. June has one great-granddaughter, Makena Peterson of Vallejo,  Calif.

In lieu of flowers, it is June’s request that everyone spend more time with family.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Trinity Methodist Church, 214 Arizona St., in Warren.
