Dr. Gary Roy Forsberg, D.O., 61, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away on Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Sierra Vista Regional Health Care Center.

Gary was born on Oct. 28, 1946, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Delbert Forsberg and the late June Hornbecker Forsberg.

He was raised in Sharron, Pa., and graduated from Hickory High School. He also attended and graduated from Case Western Reserve College in Cleveland, Ohio, with a pre-med degree in 1968. Gary then went to the Philadelphia Osteopathic College and graduated in 1972.

In 1971 he married his late wife, Myra. He returned to Sharron and opened a general practice and continued his practice for two years when he decided to specialize in radiology. After completion of his radiology requirements, he moved to Florida and practiced in Cole Springs and Orlando. Gary moved from Florida to Sierra Vista 16 years ago. At the time of his death, he was a partner in Radiology Specialists of Southern Arizona at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center.

He was also active in various Sierra Vista civic and community organizations.  He was an active member of Republican Party, the Pueblo del Sol Country Club, the 1200 Club, La Costa Country Club and a Mason. He held various offices in those organizations.

Gary was especially proud of his honorary membership in the 731st Bomber Squadron of WWII due to his father’s service. His parents were diligent in making him practice his piano and the organ. Through this effort he became a proficient pianist and organist. Gary was an avid golfer and a great Cleveland Browns Fan.

On May 9, 1997, Gary married his loving wife Beverly Chandler in Hawaii. She survives him as well as his son Greg, his father, Delbert, his two brothers Lyle and Mark and a sister Tammy. Other survivors include his stepsons, Todd and Scott Chandler, Beverly’s twin sister Barbara Thompson and their sister Phyllis Mitchell as well as special friends Tim and Mary Panther.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Hatfield Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will held in the funeral home chapel the following day, Saturday, at 1 p.m.
