Today a spokesperson for France said their athletes were in China to smash the Americans. So, what else is new? Apparently they resent that twice during the 20th century we and the British and the Canadians have had to sacrifice many thousands of our finest to save their freedom. I guess they resent our help but, not in Normandy and many parts of France outside of Paris. I know because I’ve been there and enjoyed their friendship toward Americans and I toward them. Are you all as tired of Charles de Gaulle as I am?

Isn’t it easy to blame the Republicans for everything wrong in America, also the conservatives and especially the Christians? It’s no doubt you are a hard-core Democrat and always will be. You no doubt have ever been conservative in your life and it’s for sure you wouldn’t know Jesus or you wouldn’t be so full of persecution. The country has been in a mess for a long time, more than Bush has put us in. And as long as man has free-will choice as God gave him we will always be in a mess. Were you there when the 10 billion years was being proved? Or was that just a big guess? Think about it.

To the lady in Fry’s parking lot Sunday a week ago who was so bent out of shape that somebody took a handicapped spot and did not get out and hobble into the store. Her taxes go toward handicapped placards for people who seem to abuse them all the time. Well, I’ve paid property taxes that go toward education for years and never had any children attending school. What right do you have asking my medical condition?

Michael’s crafts tried last year to get the Herald to insert their ad to no avail. Why does the Herald  not insert Michael’s ad in the paper?

EDITOR’S NOTE: The caller must be misinformed. We have no knowledge of the above instance and would have no problem inserting the Micheal’s ads in our newspaper.

I took the boys up Carr Canyon to the concrete bridge to walk up to the falls. Beautiful you know? Until we got to the first flat area. People have painted the rocks, and there are dirty diapers, broken glass and beer cans. We need to clean it up, period. Whoever was the bonehead from El Paso that wanted everyone to know how much they love Fall Out Boy in blue spray paint, paint your car or house or something, not our rocks. I know the locals here do not approve of this, and you need to educate these folks it is not acceptable behavior. I know you can do that.

I have stood by Huachuca City when it has been dubbed a “speed trap.” I have always felt the signs were clearly posted and that enforcement did not constitute a trap. I must now take exception regarding the new speed limit that has been posted on the frontage road between upper and lower Huachuca City. Changing the limit from 30 mph to 20 mph on a road that has a Coca-Cola distribution center, a U.S. post office, and a lumber yard is ludicrous. The fact this is a downhill road even makes it more difficult to maintain the posted speed limit. I have now joined the masses in referring to Huachuca City as a speed trap that needs more money to fill its coffers. Maybe they can afford to hire a lifeguard for their nice pool or a trash collector to police up the junk yard on the south end of town.

I think we all need to remember that there never was a union associated with the subject. It was always Mother Russia holding the other countries in line at the point of a Russian bayonet. The founders of the “union” hired a Georgian to help finance their effort since he was a notorious bank robber by the name of Joseph Stalin who ultimately rose to the leadership of the “union.” It would appear to me that its reincarnation is beginning and we do not have to be truly surprised do we?

If there was a need for more drilling years ago why didn’t the Republican administration ask for approval from the Republican Congress and go ahead with it. If they had done so what would have happened to the oil? We haven’t built any refineries in years. Could we have refined it and sold it at a low price to the American public or would it have been loaded on tankers and sold to Japan or China, with all the profit going into the pockets of the CEOs of Exxon and the other international oil giants. To answer all this, one needs to begin with realization that the White House is under the rule of two oilmen. No, I ain’t no liberal and I won’t vote for Obama, but I am sick and tired of the finger pointing and obvious attempt to shift blame for the sad state the nation is in today.

I’ve made an easy decision. I do not want our next president to be someone who is also the citizen of any foreign country.

Obama was born in Hawaii two years after it became our 50th state. The laws of many countries automatically extend citizenship to offspring when one of the parents is a citizen of that country. If we really are averse to ancestors of immigrants, many of us fail to qualify as loyal Americans. If renouncing one’s parentage is becoming a litmus test in America, then we are destined to divide and fail as a nation.

Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has vowed no legislation will come before the House that calls for offshore oil drilling, although 70 percent of the American people favor offshore oil drilling. Where does Democrat Gabrielle Giffords stand on this vital issue? Is she a Pelosi clone (she votes with Pelosi 93 percent of the time) or can she think for herself? I believe we must start offshore oil drilling on our coastlines now and not drag our feet any longer. As a voter I want to know Giffords’ position on this issue. I’m sick and tired of being held hostage by Middle East oil cartels and $4 dollar gas prices and don’t appreciate the stonewalling efforts by Democrats on this critical issue. Our economy and national security are at stake. Where does Republican Tim Bee stand on the issue? If he favors offshore oil drilling, he gets my vote.

This is regarding the article on Krystle Lyn in Sunday’s paper. How does her fiancé’s income affect her eligibility for assistance? I hope I can get an answer.

" That was your decision based on your condition, not everyones decision based on thier doctors advice. If you were were comfortable with that decision you wouldn't feel slighted by those who do otherwise "

" Some people have lung problems, and walking farther gets them out of breath. I am one of those people, however I do not use or choose to use hadicapped spaces. It is not a matter of getting exercise. If a person has a bad heart or lungs, the exercise can actually put a strain on them. Get your facts before you write something so obviously ludicrous. "

" I never worry about people parked in handicap spots for two reasons: 1-it's not like I want to park there; 2-if they are there illegally or have worked the system, then they are sadly pathetic, but that's on them, not me. It's a freakin' parking spot. Why would I waste part of my life caring where people park when it has very little affect on me or other people. (And it has little affect on handicapped people...those spots get them a little closer, that's all. If they can get there from one spot, they can get there from non-handicap spots.) "

" To the lady that was bent out of shape that somebody took a handicapped spot and did not get out and hobble into the store. There are many kinds of handicap that are not seen on the outside, so before you speak it could be you one day. Maybe its a bad heart and no one knows but the parking spot makes it eaiser for those who run out of breath and can't walk far. Shame on you passing judgement on the handicapped. "

What people need to accept... wrote on Aug 20, 2008 6:47 AM:

" It seems what people are lacking today is the knowledge that they do not know everything. This is wisdom that comes with age... Or at least I thought it did. While applicable in many situations, the lady in the parking lot is a prime example. There are plenty of conditions that can make it hard to walk long distances entirely or without pain, but do not manifest themselves with hobbling or a visible cue. Please... Sometimes we may question, but realize we do not see or know everything. "

" Since the article said she and her fiance have been together since she was 16, I imagine he is the father of her little princess. The father living with the child and mother his income must be included on the application for child care assistance. "
