Police charge man who wore corset, allegedly followed girl

Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, Aug 20, 2008 - 05:31:02 am MST

SIERRA VISTA — A man wearing a woman’s corset and skirt was arrested by police after he was allegedly seen with a knife and following a girl.

At 7:25 a.m., an employee of the Imagine Charter School, 1000 E. Wilcox Drive, called police because the employee had seen a man walking behind a student, said Officer Tracy Grady, spokeswoman for the Sierra Vista Police Department.

The employee told police the man had a knife and that the student was listening to her MP3 and unaware of the man’s presence.

The employee then yelled out of his or her car window to the student, telling her to run, Grady said. The student ran, and the man stopped following her.

When officers made contact with the man in the corset and skirt, he reportedly provided false information about his identify. The man, indentified as Danny Dukinfield, 47, also admitted to being intoxicated during the incident.

Dukinfield was arrested on a charge of providing false information to law enforcement. He also had two outstanding warrants. He is lodged in the Cochise County Jail on a $9,000 cash bond, Grady said.

As the election draws closer, we will start hearing more and more cases(if the media is true to form) where gun control could of been this magical cure to the nations ills, all the while ignoring cases like this. We will be be convinced to give yet more of our rights away in the name of safety. Evil always rides in on the back of a white horse. "

" The only way the county attorney could "quit plea[d]ing all these case[s]," would be to go to trial in each and every case. But that won’t happen cheaply. Court calendars and the County Attorney’s case load are all bursting at their seams. Are you willing to pay more taxes to build more courtrooms, pay for more judges, pay for more court staff, pay for more prosecutors and pay for more defense attorneys (and the necessary support staff and jury pools)? If not, then plea offers are a necessary evil. (Trials aren’t always a panacea, either--think Oscar Anthony Garcia.) "

(A person commits disorderly conduct if, WITH INTENT TO DISTURB THE PEACE OR QUIET OF A NEIGHBORHOOD, FAMILY OR PERSON, or with knowledge of doing so, such person: … Recklessly handles, displays or discharges a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument.) While you can speculate about what he intended to do, how would you PROVE his alleged intent to a jury BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT (especially when the child was apparently unaware of his presence)? Police officers understand the law and know what to charge. "

Only problem is it is unknown if the current charges in concert with his previous two warrants will be enough to send him there. The incident happened 1 block from school, these kids are 10-11-12 and the girl being followed was warned but because she had her ear buds on she could not hear. Fact is if all the kids witnessing this inside the locked gate somehow got out and came to her aid would we be mourning a massacre?? This nut wears a corset and skirts. If someone looks seriously out of place, call the police. It's a shame that the girl's friends who were watching the whole thing unfold didn't warn her of the nut job following her. At least the school employee came to her aid. Seems the friend's nightmare may be more from guilt of not helping her friend. "

HOWEVER, clothing should not matter unless it leads to a mental health issue that needs to be addressed. Would a Hare Krishna be a suspect because they dress different? To momof, sounds like someone told your child some frightening stories, not that likely a child would have nightmares if the issue was handled calmly and directly. That's a pretty serious reaction for a young child. "
