TEMPO: ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’: Off Broadway ends summer
season on their toes

Published/Last Modified on Thursday, Jul 31, 2008 - 05:40:56 am MST

Off Broadway Theatre presents its last production of the summer season, while kicking off its exciting fall production schedule!

“Dancing at Lughnasa,” written by Irish playwright Brian Friel, is highly regarded as a heartwarming masterpiece.

This story follows the lives of the five Mundy sisters through their rugged family landscape in Ireland. Dancing to the music of an unreliable Marconi radio awakens their vanishing dreams, deeply-buried desires, and a last chance at happiness … all told through the memory of Michael. He recalls the arrival of his ailing priest uncle from Africa and his father, Gerry, who returns for a visit unexpectedly and how it changes their lives during that summer of 1936.

This story is supported by a dynamic castwho fit beautifully together.
