Kudos to the staff at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center, including Drs. Chiakmakis J. and Kuchar L., DPMs. My wife had ambulatory surgery at SVHRC on state Route 90 on June 20. Staff was professional, accommodations and medical hardware were clean, modern and well organized. Staff members were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Follow-on care has been excellent. All in all a positive experience to date.

Last week the U.S. Border Patrol helicopter and several agents were involved in the apprehension of approximately 38 illegal aliens, which by the way were determined to be OTM’s (other than Mexicans). This all took place in the vicinity east of Las Hacienda’s II and Casa Adobe housing development areas and north of the apartments. Your newspaper had two reporters on scene taking notes and pictures. To date, I have not seen an article. The people in this area have a right to know what is happening in our backyards. These “scraggly, felony committing” people were camped out 150 yards east of Casa Adobe homes. The area is well-littered with approximately 50 backpacks, old underwear, socks, diapers, plastic water bottles and uneaten food, all of which will attract rats, mice and then the rattlesnakes. The USBP pilot is to be commended for the super job. The agents have my thanks for being so vigilant and protecting our property.

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Border Patrol told us that an air unit spotted a group of illegal immigrants near the area of Colombo Avenue on July 11. Agents responded and picked up 24 illegal immigrants. Unfortunately, these types of incidents are common in our area, and, yes, we didn’t publish the information due to the fact that we didn’t have much more to go on and that it is one of many stops that occur in our area on any given day. We did send a reporter and photographer to the scene to determine what was occurring. The information on the incident, as with many incidents, is released not from those agents, but from the agency’s Tucson office.

This is to the person who wrote in about our young people and obesity and limiting their sodas, and sweets, etc. and wanting parents to do that. It’s not our responsibility to raise our kids or see what they do. That’s why we pay for educators and law enforcement, things of that nature. All we do is pump them out. The more kids we have the more money we get. So don’t expect me to raise my kids. That’s your job.

Have I got a deal for you! You probably want change in your life. Well, I’ll sell you some. Send me $100 and I’ll guarantee you get some change. In fact, I’ll guarantee you’ll get meaningful change. You’ll invest in that, won’t you?

Have you heard about the parade? It begins at the border and continues north on Highway 92 when Obama wins the White House. It will contain all illegals flying Mexican flags and will proceed up Fry to the fort. Don’t notify the Border Patrol. There won’t be one.

I wish to express my most sincere appreciation to the woman who walked from the west end of Wal-Mart to Wendy’s Hallmark to return a package that I left in a Wal-Mart shopping cart. Fortunately for me, the kind employees remembered my purchasing the item, and I was able to recover them. The act of kindness by the woman and employees at Wendy’s will be remembered by me for years to come. I have always said our acts are habitual. Obviously, these women have chosen to do things right. My thanks to each of you.

Ex-Sen. Phil Gramm has called us a nation of whiners. I suppose he refers to: tax cuts for the super rich, two seemingly endless wars, near doubling of the national debt since Bush took over, collapse of the U.S. dollar, gas prices, mortgage meltdowns, credit crisis, the bear stock market, implosion of financial systems, the price of inflation in general, etc. But he didn’t mention we have some slime balls in positions of great power. He worked long and hard to help create the condition this nation is now in financially. Yes, Phil, you’re no Dr. Phil to me. I’m one of the whiners. It is my patriotic duty. And you are one of the slime balls. The fact that you are an “economic advisor” to Sen. McCain is very, very disturbing to me.

We need not worry about the invading hordes when our own military is dumping jet fuel over our neighborhoods. Last night at five o’clock the air was filled with aviation fuel. Can someone look into this practice and see if local, county or state (forget federal) government can stop this practice?

We all must realize our love affair with lots of horse power is at an end. The American way of life and our don’t care attitude have been exploited by greedy oil companies. Oil companies and Detroit auto makers were sitting for too long at the same table. Big engines with lots of cubic inches produces lots of horse power. Heavy vehicles need a lot of fuel. Many years ago my crystal ball told me that because of our attitude eventually it will all come crashing down. Detroit automakers did not see this coming or did not care. Now they laid off thousands and closed many plants. For too long we have been a pampered, spoiled society. Now we must pay the price and learn to conserve energy — what energy there is — and find new means. Offshore drilling is not the answer. We the people must use less fuel and find new means.

" One fact the liberal Obamamedia fails to tell us about Barack Hussein's recent trip is the truth about his "big" speech. 200,000 people do not show up just for a short speech. There's something that Obama and his propaganda people at CNN, FOXNEWS, MSNBC, ABC, NBC and CBS don't tell you. Those 200,000 actually went there to see a free concert. A concert Obama inserted himself into to decieve people into thinking a large crowd came just to see him. They did this in Portland too.

They neglect to print stories that would adversly affect their advertisers, or name names. This is a feel good paper, something like a church bulletin. "

" If your only tactic is conservation of use then at some point you bump against the law of diminishing returns. Once the use of fuels is reduced sufficiently to have an impact on the oil companies they will find other sources to maintain profits. Profits is their purpose for being, it is what they exist for not the production of fuel. If they do not get it from fuels then items requiring oil for manufacturing, including medicines will see dramatic price increases to make up the difference. "

Well upon showing up at 8:15 there was NOTHING left all school supplies, backpacks and such were gone! We seen a lady with TWO kids and about 12 bags of school supplies and backpacks. Why?! Maybe i shouldnt be complaining after all it was free what can you expect?! "

Ray wrote on Jul 26, 2008 11:24 AM:

" The problem with the SV Hearald is that they would rather print "nice" stories so they don't upset area visitors. The editor has a "small town" mentality that no longer works for an area like this that continues to grow and gain newcomers. They say we can get the hard news from the Tucson and Phoenix papers, but there are people who can only afford one newspaper, and they would like to have both local and national news in one paper. Your local reporters are plain lazy! "

" Two more Banks today, the Bush Depression is upon us. America is Bankrupt and existing on borrowed money. Soon they will pay this $9 Trillion Dollar debt the way all third world countries do. they will print money and lots of it. The next president will take the blame for Bush's folley. You think there was inflation under Carter, you ain't seen nuthin yet "

    " Dear Sirs:
Just to set the record straight; programming that is distributed on the internet exclusively is not a "radio program". The AM or FM bands of the radio spectrum are typically a part of the distribution strategy for a "radio program". I believe that what you are referring to is an internet streaming program. In addition, it should be noted that Sierra Vista has several hours of "locally originated radio", on average, every day. It is true, however, that there is no program that deals exclusively with border issues that is locally produced or syndicated. "

" Why do you have to wait for news to be released from other sources before reporting it? I thought your paper's purpose is to report the news. If all your paper is doing is relaying information then why are you still here? I know why, because we coloctively believe the inaccuracies and limited information the newspaper publishes without any concern for validity. DO WHAT NEWS SOURCES SHOULD DO. Report the news and not rely on a source in Tucson to tell you what is happening here. "

I would love to raise your kids wrote on Jul 25, 2008 7:20 AM:

" The problem is, people like 'you' (and, yes, I got the tongue-in-cheek!) not only don't want to raise their own, but they won't let me do it either. Believe me, I've tried. I try to stop kids in stores from digging through the bulk bins with their boogery fingers, try to keep them from ripping apart toys in stores...what do I get for my trouble? At least a death glare and at most a cursing out from the parent. I understand if you don't want the kid, but just don't have it or give it away, it's really very easy. "

Oh please, we read articles with less information. And if " these types of incidents are common in our area" then ITS A PROBLEM WORTH REPORTING OVER & OVER until it stops. "
