Where the government has failed its citizens

Published/Last Modified on Friday, Jul 25, 2008 - 05:37:06 am MST

To the Editor:

Our government has failed us. The House of Representatives was given the power in our Constitution to investigate and take action (impeach) when governmental crimes are brought to its attention. Dennis Kucinich is one of the few to show courage by introducing still another article of impeachment, this time for the greatest crime of all, intentionally lying our country into attacking Iraq.

Why should Congress address this action when we are so close to an election that will bring a new administration to Washington? We must take action now because our Constitution continues to be eroded daily. Already gone are many of the rights guaranteed to us by the First Amendment, the Fourth Amendment and the writ of Habeas Corpus. Our leaders profess to be bringing freedom and democracy to other nations when our own democracy has become a joke. Congress refuses to act as the clock runs out, but congressional “business as usual” continues to destroy the values upon which this nation was founded.

" Dennis said he has been in contact with UFO's too. I haven't lost any of my rights, but then again, I haven't been placing those late night calls to the middle east to get cash for bomb making either. Pelosi is too busy flashing back on her 1970's experiences in Baltimore, or the botox has finally kicked in. If Bush lied, so did Congress, the CIA, the FBI, Mossad, Britain's MI-5, France and Germany and InterPol. Clinton's two terms of dismantling the intelligence agencies and military came to roost when he left office. "

" As I posted be prepared to lose MORE of your rights and monies if Nobama is elected. Taxes will be raised as both Hillary and Obama have stated that they would repeal tax cuts that Bush made with congressional support. Obama has all ready stated he would raise troop levels oversea's. Just a few weeks back he said he would be bringing the military home. In my experience that is called "Flip-Flopping. Vote for nobama if you like, but dont cry when you lose more of your freedoms, rights and monies. "

" Please com out from under your rock and pay attention. The Democrats have a majority in the house and Senate by mere slivers, not a huge majority. They must convince 9 Republicans to join with them to get bills passed. When they do get 9 and the bill goes to a president, he vetos it. I hope you are willing to talk to your neighbors, and go door to door to ensure the Dems keep the seats they won in 2006 and gain a few more. "

" Who took away Habeas Corpus Fat Murphy Bush or Obama? BUSH did. Who plans on giving it back to us? McCain or Obama? OBAMA does. Do you understand how Habeas Corpus protects us from our government locking us up arbitrarily? Or do you think because a person has brown skin and lives in the middle east they are guilty of something and that we have the right to detain them indefinitely without charging them with a crime? I want my freedoms back. "

" Yes Pelosi and her friends have been negligent in not bringing the Facist in the White House to Justice. It just goes to show that the Democrrats and Republicans are the same aristocracy. The choice between them is no choice. "
