Dave was originally from Southern California and served in the National Guard with the 223rd Regimental Combat Team, 40th Division in Korea.
He graduated in 1954 from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., before moving to New York, where he worked in advertising before starting “Dave Bixby Draws” prior to his retirement in the high desert of Sierra Vista.

Dave is survived by his second wife, Catherine; his daughters, Elise and Maryhelen; his stepsons, John and Chuck; his son-in-laws, Larry and Duane; his daughter-in-law, Yasmin; his 11 grandchildren, Elizabeth and her husband Dan, Larry Jr. and his wife Jannell, Michael and his wife Aimee, James, Philip, Mark, John Jr., Jason, Nicholas, Julia, and Calise; and his two-great-grandchildren, Kearstin and Courtnee.
Dave was preceded in death by his first wife, Felice; and both of his parents.
Services will be held privately for immediate family at a later date.
