Josephine Garcia Taylor, 71, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2008, surrounded by her loving family at the Sierra Vista (Ariz.) Regional Health Center.

Josephine was born in Bisbee, Ariz., on June 2, 1937, to Jesus Garcia and Maria Othon Garcia. She graduated from Bisbee High School.


Josephine was a devoted and loving wife, mother and nana. Her family was the love of her life, and her grandchildren were the joy in her life.

Her husband, Arthur, was a military man, which took them to many different places to live until his retirement, which brought them back to Bisbee to live.

Josephine enjoyed cooking, knitting and sewing, and she was also very much into doing crafts, and she made many items for her family and friends. Josephine will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, Arthur Taylor of Bisbee; two sons, Bill Taylor (Alaine) of McNeal, Ariz., and Jesus Taylor of Bisbee; two daughters, Dorthea Burgess (Daniel) of Marana, Ariz., and Ramona Rojas (Alfred) of Bisbee; a brother, Ramon Garcia (Blanca) of Bisbee; three sisters, Amanda Garcia, Norma Ramirez and Ernestina Figueroa, all of Tucson, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren, Anna Rojas, Elyse Taylor, Alfredo Rojas, Erin Taraskewich, Rosa Rojas, Wesley Taylor, Ashleigh Taylor, Heather Taylor, Denise Truax, Cody Taylor, Colten Taylor and Daniel Burgess; and two great-grandchilden, Tristan Hodges and Kylie Rojas.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Manuel, Ignacio, Ismael and Francisco Garcia.

A memorial Mass will be said on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church in Bisbee. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista. Dugan Funeral Chapel is handling all arrangements.
