LAKE HAVASU CITY — In a somewhat better showing than Friday night’s pair of losses to defending NBC champion Havasu Heat, the Bisbee Copper Kings dropped the final two games of the series Saturday night, 10-3 and 15-2.

Recent Buena graduate Jacob Thomas got the Colts out to a good start and his offense gave him an early lead in game one.  Justin Wright led off the game with a home run over the fence in left-center, Eric Valenzuela followed with a base hit and Sterling Schuller scored him with a double to make it 2-0.

But with none out and Schuller on second, the Kings were unable to tack on and by by the fourth inning the Heat had wrested the lead.

“We hit the ball better and our overall approach was better,” Kings’ manager Butch Hammett said. “There’s a reason they’re at the level they’re at.”

The Kings fell to 14-8 on the season after the four-game sweep.
