Sebastien James Joseph Chasse, affectionately known as “Booter,” 20, drowned on June 11, 2008, in Gunlock Reservoir while on vacation in Utah. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department ruled the cause of death as accidental.

Sebastien was born May 26, 1988, in Sierra Vista, Ariz. Sebastien was an area resident for the majority of his life; he returned to Sierra Vista after a three-year residence in Payson, Ariz. Sebastien is a 2006 graduate of Buena High School. He was employed by Vinny’s Pizza, Alert First Fire Equipment, and recently began his own business, C & C Cash Flow Notes. Sebastien was a member of Country Estates Southern Baptist Church, Hereford, Ariz. Sebastien was an avid fisherman and enjoyed cooking.

Sebastien is survived by his father, James L. Chasse, Hereford, Ariz.; his mother, Michelle Gibbar, Rio Rico, Ariz.; his sister, Sarah Chasse, Tucson, Ariz.; maternal grandparents Joseph and Wanda Gibbar, Tucson Ariz.; and his paternal grandmother, Geraldine Chasse, Madawaska, Maine. Many aunts, uncles and cousins await to meet him on the peaceful shores.

His paternal grandfather, Ernest Chasse II, Madawaska, Maine, precedes Sebastien in death.

Arrangements are through Jensen Mortuary. A public viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Country Estates Baptist Church, 5700 S. Highway 92. Services follow at 11 a.m. A reception is to follow at the home of James Chasse.

The family is eternally grateful to the Washington County Utah Search and Rescue Team for assisting in bringing our boy home. Additionally, we wish to thank the Washington County Utah Sheriff’s Office Dixie Ambulance, St. George Fire Department, and rangers from the Utah State Parks for their assistance.

In lieu of flowers, an account named “A Memory of Sebastien Chasse” has been opened at Wells Fargo Bank and is available at all branches. These funds will be donated to the volunteer Search and Rescue Team responsible for bringing our boy home.
