Aug. 25, 1928 - May 10, 2008

Dr. John Richard Angelo Bellobuono, M.D., 79, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2008, at his home.

John was born on Aug. 25, 1928, in Middletown, Conn., to the late Angelo Bellobuono and the late Anna Fraulino Bellobuono. He was raised there and attended the Middletown public schools. He graduated from the University of Weslyn. John continued his education in Liege, Belgium. It was there he received his medical degree. While studying he met and married Annette Chapelier. They returned to Middletown, where he established a very successful medical practice.

He and Annette wanted to live in a warmer climate. They chose Sierra Vista. So they and their family moved in 1978. Dr. Bellobuono continued practicing medicine and worked at the Fort Huachuca Army Hospital. He loved his work and found it extremely rewarding. In 1991 he retired.

Doc enjoyed playing golf and the piano. He especially loved flying. He was licensed pilot.

John is survived by loving wife of 51 years, Annette; his daughter, Danielle Cooke of Hereford, Ariz.; and his son, John J. Bellobuono and his wife, Gail, of Meriden, Conn. The “Doc” was also the proud grandfather to Chris and Melissa Cooke of Hereford as well as John Jesse and Heather Anne Bellobuono of Connecticut. Other survivors include his sister, Eleanor Ubaldini and her husband, Armedi, also of Connecticut.

It was his wish to be cremated, and a memorial graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008, at Cochise Memory Gardens.

Hatfield Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

" Dr. Bellobuono was my doctor at Fort Huachuca and I'll always remember him as a wonderful caring physician, and gentleman. My band played at his daughter's wedding in Sierra Vista and Danielle, you can rest assured that your father has gone to a beautiful place. "

" I was privileged to work with Dr. Bellobuono at Bliss Army Hospital for 6 years. He was a very caring and considerate person and always willing to do what he could to help his patients and those of us who worked with him. I've never forgotten him and will always remember him fondly. "
