Tombstone Repertory Co. play in final weekend

Some may consider it sacrilegious to create a comic version of a great western movie — but the Tombstone Repertory Company has done it again.

“The Magnificent Seven”  now has a new version. They’re calling their version “The Mediocre Seven” though, but because of mass and sudden desertions, the “seven” becomes the “mediocre one.” In this version, the “one” somehow manages to defeat the banditos, thereby rescuing a poor Mexican village, but doing it — surprisingly — without bloodshed.

Written by Bob Hoskin and directed by Kenn Barrett, this dramatization can be experienced at Schieffelin Hall at the corner of Freemont and Fourth streets in Tombstone on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased at the theater for $5.

For information or reservations, call the producer Ron Zatochill at 249-8944.

‘A Miner’s Night in Seville’ Saturday in Bisbee

This Saturday, experience the sounds that Chris Burton Jácome entices from his flamenco guitar. Joining Chris is percussionist Chris Hill to heat up the night. Add the exquisite dancing of Lena Jácome, and it will be an evening you will not want to miss! For a glimpse of what the experience at the Miner’s Night in Seville will be, visit Chris’ Web site at www.chrisburtonjacome.com.

Chris Burton Jácome began playing guitar more than 20 years ago. While living in Seville, Spain, Chris studied flamenco guitar with some of the greatest flamenco performers of this era, including Miguel Aragón, Enrique Robles and Cristo “El Francés.”

Chris has played to many sold-out theaters and has performed throughout the United States from New York to San Francisco, from Canada to Mexico.

A Miner’s Night in Seville combines a concert with hors d’ouvres — concierto con botanas deliciosas, and gives it a Spanish twist: flamenco y tapas!

White linens and potted palms offer an elegant contrast to the miner’s changehouse of concrete and tin at the Czar mine. This changehouse currently houses the Queen Mine Tour, but for one evening they will follow the dreams of the Jardines Neptuno for a Gran Festival de Baile Flamenco.

What are tapas? Tapas is a name for a whole suite of appetizers common to Spanish cuisine.

From the original Spanish “cover” or “lid,” tapas has come to signify a variety of appetizers served on small plates.

For information on or reservations ($50 per person) for A Miner’s Night in Seville, contact Bisbee Mining & Historical Museum staff at 432-7071.

Concert seating is limited so make your reservations early.

" why does the newspaper put so many features listed as on a day but no date. As I have found way more times than I would like to count they say it is on Saturday and you assume it will be the coming future Saturday. you arrange with others to go to only find out when trying to purchase tickets it was last Saturday. Every Monday some one should be edit the news and delete last week events. Put dates so people know your news is old and over with "
