Volunteers in the greater Pearce community have acquired sufficient signatures on the petitions to ensure that the Sunsites-Pearce Fire District Board election will appear on the November 2008 ballot. Signatures are still being acquired. Any person who is interested in running for the board should contact Tom Schelling at the Cochise County Elections-Special Districts Office for the paperwork. The Thunder Mountain Republican Women’s Club will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday for lunch at the Pueblo del Sol Country Club. A spaghetti fundraiser for Cochise County sheriff candidate Bill Cloud will be held April 27, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Gus’ Pizzaram in the Safeway plaza in Bisbee. The Muheim Heritage House Annual Rummage, Collectible and Antique Sale will be held on Friday and Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the house, located at 422 Arizona St., in the Warren District. Funds collected help maintain, preserve and perpetuate this historic house for future generations. Sierra Vista
The annual High Desert Chili Pod Spring Cook Off is slated for April 26 at Paul’s Pub on Paseo San Luis. Tasting cups and raffle tickets will be sold starting at 1 p.m. An award ceremony will follow. At 1:30 p.m. April 27 at the Carr House, Eric Kaldahl, an archeologist and the Amerind Foundation curator, will present “People of the San Pedro Valley, from Clovis to the Gadsden Purchase.” The house is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday until October. For visitors and hikers, the historic Carr House offers maps, exhibits, information and water. Programs are held every other Sunday and will run through Sept. 21. Call 378 1824.
