SIERRA VISTA — A text message that raised concern among some on Tuesday likely comes from an Amber Alert issued in Montana last week.
The Amber Alert in Montana, which was canceled, was in connection to a woman who allegedly abducted her two daughters, aged 7 and 8, on Friday. She was reported to have been driving a brown 2002 Jeep Liberty.
Authorities in Montana sent the Amber Alert last Friday, and it was canceled when the mother was arrested and the girls were recovered by law enforcement.
All of the information from that incident parallels the message received by some local residents on Tuesday. The message received by local residents said two “little girls” were taken and that the suspect was driving in a brown sports utility vehicle.

But the message received by local residents on Tuesday asked people from Sierra Vista to forward the text.
The message also did not contain a state of origin or a source of origin.
On Tuesday, Sierra Vista police said the message didn’t come from a local law enforcement agency, and the Arizona Amber Alert system was not activated. Police and Sierra Vista school offices said they received calls from concerned local residents about a possible child abduction that was in relation to the text message.
