SIERRA VISTA — A 35-year-old Sierra Vista man was arrested by city police Wednesday on a felony child molestation charge involving a 12-year-old boy.
The judge did not set a bond for Michael J. Hernandez, who remains in the Cochise County Jail, said spokeswoman Carol Capas of the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office. A hearing is scheduled for April 21 at Justice of the Peace District 5 Court in Sierra Vista.
The investigation began March 19 when the boy alleged he’d been sexually molested by Hernandez at a home in the 1400 block of Bella Vista Drive, police said.
The charge is a Class 2 felony. Hernandez turned himself in at the Sierra Vista police station at about 4:30 p.m.

Police Sgt. Butch Boutte declined to comment regarding whether or what the existing relationship between Hernandez and the alleged victim may be, nor about any evidence there may be in this case, citing a need to protect of the identity of the boy.
Hernandez is not registered as a sex offender, having no such previous convictions to indicate recidivism, Boutte said.

What kind of parent are you? Do you know about being accused of something you didnt do by one of your kids? Maybe you speak from someone that has been there. Thank God you will never coach my children or be left with them. "
