He was born Nov. 7, 1913, in Bisbee to Joseph and Martha (Abel) Ferry. He lived most of his life in Bisbee, except living in Casa Grande and Alpine, Ariz., for short periods of time.
Joe served his country in the U.S. Navy prior to World War II, then re-enlisted at the declaration of WWII. Joe learned his profession as a diesel mechanic while in the Navy.

After retirement, Joe and Lois, his wife of 65 years, loved living in the White Mountains, gathering firewood, some fishing during the warm months, ice fishing and snowmobiling during the winters. While living in Bisbee, Joe attended the Trinity United Methodist Church and the Warren Community Church.
Joe is survived by his wife, Lois, of Bisbee; daughter, Pat Crowley-Mauzy (Loyd Mauzy) of Rodeo, N.M.; grandchildren, Joey Gregory of Phoenix, Suzanne Gregory Lamborne of Safford, Ariz., Robbie Gregory of York, Ariz., Scott Crowley of Apache Junction, Ariz., and James “Darrel” Crowley of Hereford, Ariz., and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Ferry Sr. and Martha Ferry; three sisters, Doris Fletcher, Ethel Hunter and Martha Cole; his daughter, Carol Gregory Thiel; grandson, Marcus John Gregory and son-in-law, James D. Crowley Sr.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the Warren Community Church, Bisbee, with Pastor Warren Griffin and Pastor Clyde Daily officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Joe’s name to the Warren Community Church, 201 Arizona St., Bisbee AZ 85603.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jensen’s Sierra Vista Mortuary.
